Which is the best time to go as far as the parks not being as busy? We were thinking Memorial Day week or Columbus day week in Oct.? Also the last 2 weeks of September and the whole month of October are an option. Is one time better than another?

September or October would be waaaaayyy better than Memorial day week.

How about Columbus Day week? We like the idea because it is one less days my kids are missing school but is it more crowded?

One more thing I did notice on that website is that Memorial Day is not listed as being a factor in crowd levels. I thought it was odd that Columbus Day is listed but not Memorial Day.

We always found October or early November a good time to go.The weather is still warm but not too hot (it also can be cool enough in the evenings for a sweater or hoodie) and the crowds have really thinned out and we always avoid the park on the weekends no matter what time of year.
Imagine our surprise the time we showed up in early November and the entire park was decorated for Christmas already. We were already in full Christmas mode by the time we got off the plane home! That was such a wonderful and memorable vacation. This time we are going in April to experience some of that warm California sunshine and hopefully enjoy the southern coast a bit more!
