Crowd level-- how many people?

This more out of curiosity than anything...

I read that 100,000 people is capacity but that it never reaches that high. But if you count that as a 10 does it just go down from there...

9-90,000
8-80,000
7-70,000
6-60,000
5-50,000

And so forth?

That seems like a lot of people but we go in Sept when it's around 1-3 so at a 1 is there 10,000 guests in one park. I don't know whether to think that's high or low.

How do they count crowd levels? Do they have an average amount of guests or is it a different calculation?

Here's the explanation from touring plans:

http://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/crowd-levels

click around on some of the links on that page to see how different attractions vary with crowd levels. It's definitely not linear, though.

Plus, theirs is based entirely on wait times rather than people in the park.

If it is based on wait times and not people I wonder if there is an average amount of people. That is what makes me most curious. Is there an average amount of people someone could pinpoint or is it so different day to day and month to month that an average is hard to say?

Let me put it this way...
I'm curious if I am standing in MK on a day in September that is rated a one .. How many people (I know that it can not be exact) are standing through out the park with me?

Annual attendance at MK is about 16 million, I think. Maybe a little higher.

Starting with that, you can make whatever guesses you want. But I suspect a day with less than 10k, apart from extremely bad weather, is exceedingly rare.

I should add that TouringPlans is only one of several places with crowd estimates. Others will have their own methodologies and may base them on other metrics than just wait times.

According to the entry here

http://m.wdwmagic.com/walt-disney-world-history.htm

The single day record attendance for MK was December 31, 1980 and was 92,969. This is as of 2009 and appears to be sourced from Disney.

Keep in mind: that does not necessarily mean that 93K people were in MK at the same time. People could have entered and left.

So 93k is a 10+ -- think New Years Eve, Christmas, July 4th

51K would be a 5 -- average daily attendance (see my PP)

Fill in the rest from there.
