I know there was a post about the last week in August, but how about the week before. Besides it being dreadfully hot, which I like, how are the crowds.

We were there the 3rd week of Aug. '03 and it was definitely hot and unusually rainy (downpours with thunderstorms that lasted for the whole late afternoon/evening and closed the pools all that time) but I think the crowds were o.k. I haven't been in the summer since I was a teenager (a very long time ago) so I can't compare with the usual summer crowds. I will say I was worried about going at such a hot and potentially crowded time with 2 little kids and I would definitely go back again that time of year if I wanted to take a summer trip. Supposedly the later in August you go the fewer people there are as schools are starting back.

Have fun!

If I remember correctly, selket and I were there about the same time in '03!! And it was wet!!! But the crowds weren't too bad so we booked the same time frame for '04. And we all know what happened in central Florida last August. Because of the hurricanes and the weather system that allowed them to happen, it was incredibly humid last Aug. We could take the heat, that wasn't an issue. But the humidity did us in by 5-6 each night. I can't tell you how many nights we were in bed, watching the Olympics at 9!!! But, that was pretty unusual I guess and hopefully won't happen again. BTW...the crowds were great for the first 3 days, then all the area people starting flocking in since schools were closed due to the damage.

In Southeast FL our kids are going back to school the 2nd week of August. Couple years back it was the last Monday of August. So any crowd is not because of us. We went 3rd week of August 03, to me it was crowded. Humid, hot, and rainy was a given but then again I'm used to it since I'm a FL resident.

If you could wait, the week following Labor day is a perfect time. Crowds are the lightest of the year.

Thanks for the replys, I wish I could go in Sept or even the last week in August. But my kids go back to school Sept. 7 and my Sisters kids go back August 29. We are vacationing together this year.

We have been to WDW in April, May, Oct and Christmas. We are going to prepare for the crowds and the heat by going to parks early, swim and back to the parks.

Thanks everyone.

Mom,

You have the right idea. There are plenty of ways to beat the heat--we've been there the second or third week in in August seven times in the last ten years! We find the crowds are very manageable, especially if you go to the EMH park in the morning , take a mid-day break, and go back out in the evening.

Good Luck!

Bob

I went the 3rd week in August last year and I thought the crowds were pleasantly not so bad. But I came prepared and went early and left and then went back in the PM after it cooled off.

I normally go off season and I didn't think it was bad at all.

we have always gone the 4th week but DH couldn't get that week. Therefore, the 3rd week it is. I was a bit nervous about the crowds, too.

Was there 15-25th in August of 04. It was 90's and humid everday(between hurricanes).
The parks were on the more populated side, but it was managable and not the worst I've seen.
