Crowd information for week following July 4th?

We usually travel in mid-August. It is hot. There are afternoon storms, and the crowds are medium to high.

While watching vlogs this year, we saw that the crowds on days immediately following July 4th seemed pleasantly light. Even the vloggers were commenting that the week following July 4th must be a good time to go.

Can anyone confirm that? Do you travel right after the fourth and find moderately easy crowds? I know we can expect more rain and heat in this time frame, but we are thinking of trying this week next year.

THANKS!

I was there 14-20 and it was lowest summer crowds I’ve seen (several mid June and early August to compare too). It’s always hot in WDW in the summer so it didn’t feel any hotter than normal to us. We’ve also had way rainier June trips. I would absolutely go in July again.

We were there from July 1-8 and it was great crowd wise, especially later in the week. Even 7/3 at MK and 7/4 at Epcot were no big deal if you have FPs.

Got there on July 5th; crowds were surprisingly light, sometimes shockingly light, esp. if you time certain parts of the parks were the traffic flow is lighter (noon in WS of EPCOT was very sparsely populated). From my POV, the only part of the park that is consistently "busy" during that time is Fantasyland, but this time I could actually walk without dodging someone every step, even Pandora in AK was not awful. It has been the slowest time of year I observed in a long time.

We were in parks July 5-13. It was VERY pleasant. Would 100% recommend this time period for a visit.

Kind of interesting...of course, nothing guarantees this for next year!
Very true. I think it was 2012 that was a very pleasant 4th, then 2013 was very busy with ~4 hours of rain every afternoon that messed up a lot of pool and park time.

But the past few years seem to have been nice, including this year.

This was our experience as well. Was also there in a similar time period in 2016. Same experience.

This year, it only rained on us two days - otherwise, it was nice & hot! :) Some of us don't mind (or get used to) the progressive heat - what can I say? ;)

We did a quick two-day trip July 8-9, 2017. Crowds were surprisingly light and FPs were pretty easy to come by. We planned it as a true last minute trip (booked maybe 3 days in advance?). We got a room at Contemporary (booked a Garden View and got upgraded to a Tower room, so they obviously weren’t sold out), and we were able to book almost every FP we wanted just 3 days out. And lots of FP inventory to choose from for day-of 4th, 5th, etc. FPs. It was a surprisingly great trip, given what we were expecting!
