Crowd Expectations 5/16-5/17?

Thinking I might want to sneak in a spur of the moment, last minute trip to DLR with my DD5. How do you all think the crowds might stack up on May 16th and 17th? I'm wondering if the crowds might be slightly lighter than usual because folks might be gearing their trips towards arrival during the 60th Diamond Celebration.

What are your opinions? I really will take them into account, so please share!

Can't answer your question but that's what I'm hoping for too. So maybe you should stay home to help me out. (kidding of course)

We'll be there on the 17th, midday. Generally Saturdays and Sundays are still busy during the off season, just a little less busy than during summer. Sundays tend to be busier than Saturdays due to AP blockouts. I'd still expect crowds, and I believe that Touring Plans was predicting those days at 8. If you can only go on a weekend though, it may be a good one to go since as you said it's before the anniversary.

I don't think the crowds will be unduly large on the weekend before the 60th anniversary kickoff, but there may be larger than normal crowds on May 17th (Sun) due to the Live with Kelly and Michael taping in Disneyland.

I see your concern. I think that the DLR will be crowded to some extent because it is getting close to summer. Also, people may want to go to DLR prior to the diamond celebration to try to avoid the crowds. On the other hand, it may not be too bad because kids will still be in school and it is after spring break, but before Memorial Day Weekend. Hope you have fun if you do decide to go.

From the description it sounds like they'll be primarily on "Main Street, U.S.A., and Sleeping Beauty Castle will provide the stunning backdrop for “LIVE’s” five broadcasts." I don't know what this will mean in terms of where they'll be set-up (Main Street Town Square or in front of the castle seems most likely).
