I never even knew they exsisted! Since we are leaving in only a couple weeks we can't change our days around, but these calendars are saying the days we picked (a sunday and a tuesday) are busy days to avoid. Has anyone planned by going off of some of these calendars? They don't really explain how they came up with their crowd numbers.

Well, if you are going in a few weeks, the calendar I looked at on Undercover tourist looks okay. There are various crowd calendars on various sites and we did kind of choose our week in part on the calendar but mostly on my husband's work schedule. As far as I can tell, it's knowledgeable gambling. One thing they might use is the cost of the express pass at Universal, if you check the Universal website, you will see the cost varies from day to day. The more expensive the fast pass, the greater Universal is predicting the crowds. I also assume the calendars and looking at other special events and general crowd trends over the years. My favorite are the calendars that contradict each other!

Try not to worry too much and plan your visit. I gotta admit that I paid the subscription for *************** and it's brought me a lot of comfort because I started my research late. DH already booked the place and bought tickets, though.

Having the touring plan from ** gives me piece of mind, it's a plan written by someone who knows. I've seen debates on whether it's necessary to pay for a plan and I will leave those to others. I do appreciate those who are willing to share their knowledge for free but I don't have time to comb through the free resources to find the info ( I'm tech able but not tech savvy) and I don't have a lot of computer time.

I think there is a lot of info on these boards but I haven't found an easy way to get to it, it seems to me that you have to read through long threads, but like I said, I'm not savvy, so it might be easier for others.

Good luck, don't worry and enjoy!

Oh, another thing. If you've got wiggle room in your schedule and it looks like you've picked a busier day than you'd like, you might want to switch your Universal days. From what I understand, the Universal ticket doesn't lock you into a day until you get to the park and activate it - we are still debating which days we'll got to Disney and which to Universal. So you can wait and see if the calendar changes (that happened to us, a slow day was upgraded to a moderate day).

Again, though, try not to stress, that will only ruin things. (mostly I'm talking to myself here)

What are your dates exactly? Sundays and Tuesdays are usually two of the best days to visit. Not sure what is coming up in a few weeks that would be causing the crowds to be a problem on either of those two days.

In May, the days to avoid are Mondays, Friday and Saturday. Monday because people are generally starting their vacations that day, Fridays because of school groups in May and Saturdays because of locals.

Sundays tend to be less busy because people tend to be leaving or arriving on vacations, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday are also less busy because they are mid-week.

Our Universal days are May 8th and May 13th. I can see the 8th being a little busier now because of the new parade and light show at US, but I can't see how that impacts IOA very much. Undercover says its a busy day on Tuesday and moderate on the 13th. But another site says US is the best park on the 8th, and IOA the best park on the 13th. We can switch which park we go to on those days, but can't pick different days because of dining reservations. We picked Tuesday and Sunday because those are generally slower days. Good advice on the Pass prices!

I think you'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

Not sure why website names are blocked out? Isn't this entire site about sharing resources and information? :confused3

Back to topic, to the OP: where are you staying? If you stay onsite (at a Universal Resort) the crowd levels aren't important. You will have unlimited Universal Express every day from the day you check in to the day you check out (meaning a one night on-site stay would cover an entire 2 day visit). Also, you get admission into IOA 1 hour early to experience WWoHP. These advantages are so significant that DH and I swore we'd never stay offsite again!
