Does anyone know of a shop reasonably nearby that actually sells cross stitch threads, fabric, beads, needles etc? I'm a fanatical stitcher and can't go a day without my "fix". While I don't envisage sitting in the sun all day stitching, I'd like to be able to shop for items I either can't buy in the UK, or are too expensive to purchase here.

I'm staying on-site, at Port Orleans Riverside, but don't drive. I know the Lynx bus stops at the T&TC, so was wondering if anyone knew of a shop/store within bus distance that can help me with my addiction!

If you have website/email addresses, that would be really great too.

Thanks.

You can take the Lynx bus from the TTC to I-Drive then take the I-Drive trolley which stops very close to a Michaels craft store. The DMC cottons (or floss as it is called here) is about a 3rd the cost that it is the UK. Also if you buy a local paper on a sunday while you are in Orlando most of the time they have Michaels coupons for 40-50% off (1 item). When my family come over from the UK Michaels is one of thier first places to shop.

Oh, thanks SO much for the info! I've never heard of Michaels before, but we were planning a trip to Pointe Orlando and Belz as well, so the fact that it's on the I-Drive is great. Can you tell me where it's near too? Nearest hotel would be great if you know, or even which end of the I-Drive it's on.

I'll be sure to pick up a newspaper too.

Thanks for the info and tips.

Michaels is located on I-Drive between Pointe Orlando and Beltz. If you are travelling from Pointe Orlando towards Beltz it is on the left hand side of the road (set back just slighty in a strip mall. The nearest hotels are Sheraton Studio City Hotel also on the left side of the road... it is a large round tower shape you can't miss it and the I-Drive trolley bus stops right out side of it (stop number 14 on the map below)... another near by hotel is the Howard Johnson Plaza resort universal gateway. (stop number 2 in the star on the opposite side of the road)

Here are some web sites for you to look at...

www.michaels.com

I tried to get a link of the location map but it would not work... however if you go to the store locator on the michaels web site and do a search for orlando the one I am talking about is on Kirkman rd.

www.i-drive.org/directory/map.htm#Top

Stop number 14 is the one you would need to use it will make Michaels about a 2 min walk away.

Michaels often have DMC cottons 5 for a $1 be sure to check the sales leaflet in the sunday paper.

Thanks so much Ash for all the info and web addresses. I've had a quick look at the Michaels website and it's great - got a lot of crafting supplies that I just can't get here without it being extremely expensive. I've resorted to buying fabric and thread from the US and having it shipped over - even then it still works out 15%-20% cheaper than the prices I pay here.

Thanks again - your help's very much appreciated.
