cross body small bag ok or not?

Can someone explain why the no loose articles on men in black to me? I get all the others but I always consider men in black just a little more intense then toy story at dhs and can't figure out why no loose articles. Are they allowed on Simpsons? That seems more intense/likely to have things fall then men in black.

now that's strange, my entire post poofed......

simpsons does not have signs for using a locker before entering a ride.
you leave any large articles /backpacks you have, outside the vehicle if need be.
especially if you have won a huge stuffed animal.....
the room is locked once the ride starts so your valuables are safe.
only the TM's can enter that room when the ride is in operations.

MIB at one time had mesh nets attached to the back of the seats.
you could use them to put anything that wasn't secured to you in the bags.

i have been on MIB twice when it shut down during the ride.
if something flies out of the ride, lands on the tracks, the ride stops.

TM's have to walk thru the ride to find the item that is disrupting the ride.

last time i was on it during a shut down, all had to leave the ride and walk out of the ride area.
lights went on and it was announced no pictures could be taken.

near the end of the ride, the vehicle spins rapidly and items can easily be thrown out of the carriage you are in.

So is the fanny pack okay on MIB or will be told to take those off too? I guess I really only think about things like this for rides that go upside down and this has thrown me off since it seems like such a tame ride. Thanks for explaining that it's the spinning.

Fanny packs are fine on MiB.

MIB was the ride that caught us off guard as well - my dd had a waist pack on but it didn't have the proper clasp. The CM was very kind but did escort her to a locker to have her stow it while we waited to the side.
Prior to that we did use a locker for Hulk and RR Rockit but she did wear the pack on Gringots prior to realizing she wasn't supposed to.

In Simpsons, you leave your articles up against the walls when you get in the simulator. Since it doesn't leave the room, you still have everything where you can see it.

If you have zipper pockets on your pants, can you leave cameras and phones there for MIB and Gringotts? I would imagine neither of those have incidences of people throwing things off the rides.

edit - must have posted same time as other explaining MIB. I guess they had bags the last time we were there, bc I don't remember lockers there.

Just returned from 5 days at Universal. I was able to wear my waist bag (fanny pack) on all rides, including Hulk, Rip Ride Rocket and Dragon Challenge. I always asked before entering the line because I didn't want any surprises, but I was told by all team members that "fanny packs are fine".

I don't know about the bag.

The lanyards they sell are here: https://www.universalorlando.com/Merchandise/ProductList.aspx?q=lanyard The clear pouch seals with a zip-lock type to keep the tickets / passes dry.

In 2012, the tickets were paper tickets the size of a cc. Each person was supposed to sign theirs, and they are linked to you by your fingerprint. We just made sure there was a name on each one so that everyone had their own ticket and we weren't holding up the line.

UCT shipped this year's tickets on Monday, so they will probably be here tomorrow. I'll be able to tell then if they are still paper or not.

Note that you can also find nice lanyards on ebay. I got all our HP lanyards off ebay this year. I will have to buy plastic sleeves with zip-lock type closures for each, but I wanted the boys to have them beforehand. They just used the Disney lanyards with the coin purse pouches last time.

Any lanyard you have will work if it has a clear plastic pouch. Just be sure the pouch zips closed to avoid soaking it, either on one of the wet rides or in the rain. I'm getting 12 off ebay for $4.50 with free shipping. I'm set for life. :)
We just received our tickets from UCT today and yes they are paper tickets so you might want to get the lanyard type mentioned by CyndiLooWho.

We were there in November and I had a small Michael Kors crossbody bag. I used the lockers for all rides that require them and didn't find the lockers to be a pain. For Hulk and Rip Ride Rockit, they actually checked our butts to make sure we didn't have anything in our pockets. They noticed my BF's wallet in his back jeans pocket and made him put it in the locker.

If anyone is looking for the perfect bag to take to Universal Studios I recommend a Kipling crossbody bag that converts into a fanny pack. I read about it on the boards last year and ordered one and just love it! I can wear it as a fanny pack in the park and convert it back into a stylish cross body for walking around CityWalk or other exploring during my trips to Orlando. It''s great only having to bring along one bag for both Universal and Disney. There are several companies, besides Kipling, that carry them you just need to google to find the best price. I ordered mine off of Amazon.

So can you put your backpack in a locker and then bring a camera on the ride? I have a small Sony Handycam that I would like to bring along.

No. On the rides that require you to store loose articles in a locker, you'd have to store the camera as well.

Only exception would be with Forbidden Journey, if you do the castle tour only, you can bring a camera or video camera. But going through the castle only tour, you exit at the end of the tour and do not ride the ride.

Am I understanding that every ride has lockers at its entrance? I'm confused!! Thx

Not every ride. Only the ones that do not permit the carrying of bags or loose articles. And there are exceptions like the Simpsons ride where bags and large articles are left outside the vehicle before the ride commences.

If the ride prohibits carrying of loose articles you will not be allowed to bring a camera onboard.

No. On rides that prohibit loose articles entirely, they will have lockers free of charge for you to store your bag near the entrance/exit of the ride. Anything loose (including wallets and cell phones) will be required to be stored in the locker. On Rip Ride Rockit, they even checked our butts for wallets!

If there are no lockers, you can bring bags on. As PP mentions, they may ask you to leave your bag adjacent to your ride vehicle if you'll exit at the same spot (Dr. Doom and Simpsons come to mind).

Remember that the fanny pack MUST have a 3 prong closure (like on a webbing belt or survival bracelet) in order to go on the rides. It sounds like rides with lockers may not even be allowing fanny packs now, though.

The Kipling bag I bought does have the webbing belt with the 3 prong closure. It tucks into hidden zippers on the back of the bag when not in use. To convert the bag you just remove the cross body strap, stash it in the bag, unzip the 2 zippers on the back of the bag and pull out the two side of the fanny pack belt. It is a very unique idea. I have worn mine in the parks many times over the past year and never had to remove it.. It is a bit small but i can carry my small camera, cell phone, thin wallet and a few little things with no problem.
