Cross-body bag on rides?

First time at Universal is coming up in a couple months. I think I had a small cross-body bag each time we've been to Disney. I know we never got a locker. Our youngest won't be able to go on the craziest coasters, so I will wait with her. But will I be able to take the bag on the rest of them? What about the reusable cups we might purchase?

Is it like Disney in that my stuff will be able to stay with me or will I need to use lockers? (And, if so, are the lockers at each ride?)

Rather than trying to list everything from memory and risk missing something, I'll instead suggest you do a search and read through the many threads on this topic. You'll be able to find specific lists of rides, locker locations, etc.

But in general, the rides that do not allow loose items will always provide free lockers for you to use while you ride. The lockers are big enough to fit your reusable cup. If you want to skip the lockers on all but the biggest coasters, get a fanny pack with a three-prong clasp, which can be worn on the less-intense-but-still-requiring-a-locker-for-loose-items rides.

You can't take your bag on Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, Mummy, Men In Black.

You can't take anything on Hulk, Dragon Challenge and Rip Ride Rockit.

You will be able to take your bag on most rides. If you have to check your bag, there will be free lockers close to the ride.

Are the rules different if you're participating in child swap? If you are can you leave your bags with child and whichever adult is staying with child?

I don't have one so I'm asking to better help others later.

Yes. If you're using child swap, you can bring your bags through the line and they will stay in the child swap area.
