Okay, whose crocuses are up? MINE ARE! They bloomed on the vernal equinox...how wonderful is that? Only the yellow ones, but oh, what a cheery sight.

I love crocuses, but have none planted. Is it too late? Would it work well in a pot indoors?

Too late for this season around here. Can you grow crocuses where you are? What season do you generally see them there? I always thought they needed a winter of chilling before they would sprout, which is why they're fall-planted and spring-growing bulbs here. Perhaps they need refrigeration for a period of weeks in LA, then can be planted. I'd check with a local nursery, or maybe some kind Southern DISer can chime in here.

And yes, they grow very well in pots as forced bulbs. Pot them up, chill for 6 weeks, then pull them out, put in the sun, and voila! Croakies!

Crocuses are blooming here and daffodils have big fat buds on them. Can't wait til they are in bloom! :sunny:

I have two yellow crocuses up on my lawn! The rest may not be far behind!

One of my hyacinths was big buds on it so hopefully soon I will be smelling them through my windows!

I miss crocuses! They don't grow here without a LOT of effort. I used to watch every bit of growth and wait for them so eagerly. I had purple and yellow crocuses planted right by the back steps of my place in WI. Starting in February I would watch that spot anxiously - looking for even the smallest hint that they were finally coming up and spring was here! It doesn't seem like spring without them.

Crocuses are nearly gone now and the daffs are just starting to wane. :guilty: I am so happy that I planted all 100 of my daff bulbs in the fall!

My first crocus came out today. Looking forward to the daffodils that should be popping out in the next couple of weeks!

Mine have been up for a week or 2....They look okay...Everything else looks bad though.. :guilty:

YIPPEEEE! First daffodils arrived yesterday, to join the crocuses.

Daffodils are blooming and I have some early tulips out. The hyacinths are in full swing, expect for one bed that always blooms late. So happy to find this board!

My hyacinths are in full bloom! :sunny:

I don't have any daffs so am waiting for the tulips! They are getting there! :cool1:

My gorgeous purple tulips are in full bloom now. My bridal veil is starting to pop! The first rosebuds are forming. Hurray for spring, even though it was late here!

There are crocuses up all over our neighborhood. Daffodils too! I don't have any planted in my own yard, but I love seeing them bloom when I go walking.
