crocs vs. sneakers

For our disney trips, I put my 2 boys in sneakers. We've been in April, June and October. Even for the hot June, I wanted them in sneakers. My youngest wears crocs but older son hates them. They do so much walking at Disney, I really want their feet supported. They have to wear sneakers at school and preschool, so they are very comfortable in them.

I think it's whatever you are more comfortable with. Just make sure their shoes are broken in for lots of walking with maximum comfort and minimum blisters.

On our last trip we wore our crocs for the flight and brought our good running shoes for the parks. After the first day, we kicked those shoes into a corner of the room and didn't look at them again. This time, just wearing the crocs and not bothering to pack anything else!

DD6 would only wear crocs if she could. We pack crocs and tennis shoes to WDW and DL, but she only ends up wearing crocs in the parks.....never complains of feet hurting :thumbsup2 and thanks to DIS Budget Board, we got Disney Crocs from Cabela's for 4.88! last month. Thank You Thank You Thank You!

On our 2 week trip in July, I saw much less Crocs less than usual...I think they are finally phasing out.

We used to wear Crocs as they could get wet, and they seemed to help my back for awhile, but after too many slips and toe catches we are done! Crocs really are not that good at all - very slippery and they wear down so fast! They really are unsafe for kids, and do not make for safe park shoes at all, IMHO. We had at one time 13 pairs for 4 people, so we replaced our Crocs every couple of months, yet the same results.

After spending hundreds of dollars on Tevas and Keens as recommended on here (both are horrible), we are back to running shoes. New Balance is our fav - they make an awesome running shoe/water sandal hybrid shoe that the kids absolutely loved. Wore them everyday at WDW. We will take our chances with our running shoes (waterproof spray) as they are the best for our feet, backs, ankles and knees. We always have at least 2 pair each for our 2 week summer trips.

Happy shoe shopping, Tiger :)

To each his own - it depends on what you are comfortable in - New Balance sneakers - fitted at the store by the "professional" were the worst shoes I had ever worn in WDW - terrible blisters, even after the "breaking in " period. Crocs all the way for this family!!

I had never really worn crocs before but bought some for our September trip. I rotated between 3 different pairs of crocs for the trip and my feet were soooo happy. I added socks when I wanted more cushion - Disney socks I bought at the resort - very cushy. I would recommend taking 1 pair of sneaks though in case the crocs don't work for you.

Hiya,

another vote for crocs here - for ADULTS - with socks, stops any rubbing anywhere. I suffer heel pain when walking long distances, or just standing sometimes... and crocs are the one bit of footwear I found to help.

BUT we took crocs, trainers and sandals for the kids to alternate as I don't think crocs alone are good for growing feet - not enough arch support.
