I bought my first pair of Crocs ever last week. I got the Niles style because I like having my toes peek out of sandles and I thought that they'd be cooler than the other styles. But now I'm wondering how the Niles style compares to other styles in terms of foot happiness. I've heard so much about how Crocs take care of aching feet and that people's feet don't hurt while wearing them or get blisters. Can the same be said for the Niles style?

I remember when the whole Croc-craze thing when it started last year and I can tell you in April, 2005 I went down to WDW (in my Caymans) and met other DISers b/c of their Crocs. The mother was wearing caymans and the daughter, (late teens) niles. I asked the daughter about her Niles. She said they were very comfortable and they had just been on the cruise the whole week prior and that's all she wore.

Sorry I can't say from experience but I am interested myself and I'm condsidering getting them for my up coming trip in May.

I can't compare either, but I just got a pair of Niles in the mail this afternoon, immediately put them on, and, so far, I love them. I really think I'm going to like them and will probably buy a pair in tan. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the ones that look like clogs (just too ugly).

I just posted this on a thread I started but I found Crocs in Canada in Mississauga! I bought Crocs (Caymans) for my DD 4 & 7 and they had Athens and Beach available for adults. I tried on the Athens but I think the they would rub in between my toes too much.

I'm going for the Niles. I want to have some more toe/air room and more of a sandal look than my Caymans. The Niles I can not find here so I'll have to order them from the Crocs webiste in the US.

OT - We went into the Disney store today and we saw the new Fairies (dolls)! Anyone seen them yet? I love them and so do my girls. They've been to the online site to see which fairy they are most like. My 4 yr old has always been Tink and she still is. My older daughter is Fira. I like Rani. More pixies dust to spread (and spend ;) ) now that Tink has some friends.

I have tried Niles, Cayman's, Beach style, and Athens flip-flop style! My least favorite was the Athen's flip-flop. The footbed was awesome (very comfortable) but I hate anything between my toes and even this soft foamy shoe drove me crazy! I sent them back to the store I bought them at! If you don't mind the thingie between the toes, it would be a terrific shoe though! My next least favorite is probably the Niles. They are comfortable, but not as much so as the Cayman's and Beach style. The Niles are narrower (but I normally wear a narrow shoe) and while they fit my foot nicely, they are not loose like a traditional Croc is supposed to be and therefore create a higher risk of blisters due to friction of skin against foam. I also have grown to like the look of the Cayman and Beach Style so the Niles look a bit "blah" to my Croc-infested eyes! Now, between the Cayman's and the Beach Style, I prefer the Beach Style. I have just had better luck getting the Beach Style to fit me properly. I normally wear a 9 1/2 narrow in a non-Croc shoe. In the Beach Crocs I initially tried a size L (women's 10/11). They were monstrous! Almost room for both feet in one shoe! Then I tried the medium (women's 8/9) and they felt great except my second toe was touching the tip of the shoe. I tried putting the shoes in the dryer for a few minutes and then wearing them over thick socks while they cooled off (also just a few minutes). Then I had a perfect fitting Croc! The Cayman's I ordered initially in a size 10 and again, they were HUGE! I reordered a size 9 and did my dryer trick and they fit pretty good now, but not as good as my Beach style! I have 9 pairs of Crocs (not counting the several pairs I returned) and the best fitting and most comfortable are my Beach style Crocs! But, to answer the original question, "Niles vs Caymans"? I would say I prefer Caymans! But overall the Beach style is my absolute favorite!

Thanks for the comparison. Now I'm rethinking my potential purchase of Niles. That's me, so indecisive. What to do, what to do?

Don't rethink your Niles based on my comparison though! I loved my Niles when I first got them. They still feel good, but the other shoes just feel better and I find the traditional clog style to be cuter than the Niles. But, keep in mind that prior to owning any Crocs I thought they looked like the most hideous shoe imaginable! That's why I selected the Niles as my first Croc! At the time, they were the most "normal" looking style. Somehow those Crocs get into your system though and re-program your perception! And then all of a sudden you think Crocs are just the cutest things! :thumbsup2 I will still wear my Niles though! I think they will be great for the beach or at the pool! But I will wear my clog style Crocs everywhere!
