First I should say that I am only interested in opinions about Crocs Athen (flip flops) and Nile (open toed) shoes. My question is...

I have several problems with my feet- first my little toes are curved outward so it has never been pleasant to wear shoes that go over my little toe because they rub them raw. Second problem is that I have very bad circulation in my feet and so I have to be able to see my toes so when they start turning blue I can move them and massage them to get the circulation back (I can't tell they are turning blue/black unless I look at them). I wear flip flops when it snows outside in VA and I don't even own another kind of shoe because of my feet problems, but we are going to disney in may and I know that my regular flip flops are not going to work.

Do the athens or niles rub the little toe edges? Does anyone with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc. have any experience with these two types of crocs? My legs tire and hurt from even a small amount of walking so anything that would help me make it a little longer in the parks would be a lifesaver.

Thanks again,
Jennifer Crider

I have the Niles and loved them. They did not rub against my feet or give me blisters and provided plenty of support. I don't have any of the conditions you mentioned above, so I would get lots of opinions. Reading these posts really helped me choose the right shoes.

I have fibromyalgia, which lead to chronic fatigue, and neuropathy in both my feet. I wear crocs and love them. I am not sure of the shoes you mention I have the closed toe ones. I know there is alot of toe room in the ones I have so you might be able to wear them. I like to keep my toes covered because of the neuropathy. I can't feel anything and I am very afraid of bumping into something or having someone drop something or step on my feet and cause a problem. the closed toe shoes have plenty of toe room and protect my feet. I check my feet a few times during the day to make sure they are ok because with the neuropathy I have no feeling and need to make sure they are not blue like you described.
I would think the flip flops would be better for what you are looking for because the Nile does have a shape that seems to wrap around and cover the small toe.
If I were you I would find a shoe store that sells the shoes and try on a pair before you order what you want. I have never seen Athens or Nile in stores around here.
If you can't find a sports store that sells Croc try a uniform store, they have Crocs for nurses. Try on a pair to see. Peggie

I have problems with my little toe rubbing in most shoes. I have the Caymans style Crocs and don't have a problem. I have the Athens on order and should get them next week. I will try to remember and post when I get them. I am going to Disney in two weeks and I am hoping this is a good solution for me.

I have 2 styles of Crocs - the closed toe regular ones and the open-toe sandals which I believe are the Nile ones.

I really like my Crocs for wearing around doing errands but I absolutely could NOT wear them to the parks! I took the sandals last May on our trip and found that they are just too squishy and didn't offer enough support - part of my feet (toes) would "go to sleep" and get numb and it was rather uncomfortable and painful after awhile. My feet seem to move around too much in the crocs for any long distance walking.

What did work well for me are Teva sandals. I have a pair that cost about $60 and I've had them for about 3 years and worn them to the parks over 3 trips. They can get wet (like in the rain, go through puddles, on Kali River, etc) and they dry out fast. They offer the right amount of support too. It is great to only need one pair of shoes. My husband/kids always have to worry about getting their tennis shoes wet!

Anyway I suggest wearing any Crocs you get before going or at least take a pair of shoes you KNOW will be comfortable. I would have probably had to go buy new shoes on our May trip had I not taken my Tevas!

**edited to add that I posted this because you mentioned about poor circulation in your feet - I think my feet are similar and it reminded me of the problem I have with my feet going numb in the Crocs!
