Okay, a while back during one of those whats for dinner/value meal/meal planning threads someone mentioned a slowcooker book. I got it and liked a recipe in it for beef and brocoli. Now I can't remember the book's title and I can't find it at the library(yeah and I'm a librarian but hey even I go braindead on book titles sometimes). It was something like best recipies or all time favorites. If this sounds like a post you made could you please tell me the title again.

Thank you.

Heh - I used to work in a bookstore and I could tell you the cover art and exact location, but not the name of the book.

You're probably referring to "Fix It and Forget It: Feasting With Your Slow Cooker" - it's the most popular crockpot series. (There's a regular, five ingredients, recipes for entertaining, lightly, diabetic...)

If it was the original fix it & forget it, and you can't find it at the library, PM me and I'll check my copy for you. :)

And there is also "Fix it and Forget it Lightly."

Please share the recipe when you find it! :)

Thanks I was looking through the fix and forget it books and couldn't find that recipie. I think it was another book. Although I did forget about the entertaining one, I"ll have to recheck that one.

Hi I found the book.

The book was:

Better Homes and Gardens
Biggest Book of Slow Cooker Recipes.

Oriental Beef and Broccoli pg 174

6 Medium Carrots cut into 1 inch wedges
2 medium onions cut into wedges
1 1/2 pounds beef round steak bias sliced into 1/2 strips
1 tablespoon minced ginger
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 3/4 ounce envelope beef gravy mix
4 cups broccoli florets
3 cups hot cooked rice

1. In a 3 1/2 to 4 quart slow cooker place carrots onions beef strips ginger and garlic. Stir together water soy sauce and beef gravy mix. Pour over meat and vegetables in cooker.

2. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or on high heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.

3. If using low heat setting turn to high heat setting. Stir in broccoli. Cover and cook 15 minutes more or until broccoli is crisp tender. Serve over hot rice.

I'm changing just a little to match what we like (adding water chestnuts and celery, taking out the ginger, using beef and broccoli powder mix instead of gravy. But so much easier than the long version I usually make.
