I'm shopping for a new one as I'm pretty sure mine is toast. :( Any suggestions for a new one? Looking for a great deal or coupon as well!

TIA!

Here's mine. Love it. It was highly recommended on a cooking blog I follow.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001AO2PXK

I love the locking lid and the adjustable cooking by temp or time. My old one just did high and low. It also has a prong if you want to so a ham or chicken. You can set the desired internal temp, insert the prong and it will finish cooking at the right temp.

I have a Hamilton Beach crockpot that I got last month at Costco for $30 on sale from $45. It is a six quart crock pot and holds a lot. The best thing about this crockpot is that you can take the insert out and use it on a stovetop to brown ground beef, heat something up quickly and then keep warm, etc. being able to use it on the stove top cuts down on messes. I recently made a batch of soup for my daughters school in it. I made it the night before in the crock on the stovetop, refrigerated it overnight, then warmed it up on the stovetop. Took it to the school and plugged it in and set it at low to keep it warm. Cannot say enough good things about this crockpot!

Get a locking lid! I love using mine for potlucks, bbq's etc school and team functions now. The locking lid is awesome!

I haven't purchased a crock pot in a long time. I didn't even know they had locking lids. What a great idea!

Hmm, I have been thinking our crockpot is a little too small for us...:scratchin ;)

This the one I got in DEC. I like it. I will say the outside gets way hotter than my old one.

I recently bought this one as well and I also love it! I always like to brown my roasts before putting them in the crock pot and this makes it so much easier. No extra kettle to clean!

I am probably the odd one out but I have the Hamilton Beach locking lid one as well. I bought it on sale at Sam's Club after my All Clad slow cooker (which I LOVED and had for 6 years) finally went. I used the Hamilton beach one all of 3 times and it broke!! Maybe I got a lemon, but it started to smell really bad while cooking the 3rd time. Like burning rubber and then it shut off. I can't get it to turn back on. It was like the mechanism inside burned out or something!! When you plug it in, it won't even light up. I need to return it to Sam's. Haven't had the chance yet but saw this post and thought I would look at it because I am in the market for a new crock pot now! I wish they still made my old one because I would buy it in a hot minute. I used it three times a week during the school year and never had an issue. I was pretty bummed out with the Hamilton Beach one. Sounds like I am the only one who had this issue though. Still, I can't bring myself to buy another one.

ETA:: Whoops!! Just checked mine on the kitchen counter and it is CROCKPOT brand with Locking lid. Sorry. Looks almost identical to the Hamilton Beach though! SO FYI DON'T buy the CROCKPOT with locking lid. Lol.

I have this one too. I love it!!!!:love::love:

I also have the 6 qt Hamilton Beach digital slow cooker that some other posters mentioned. I like it, and it seems to cook slower (a good thing) than the similar Crock Pot brand one that I had previous to it. (The handle to the cover broke on that one, and it would have been nearly as expensive to replace the lid than it was to just buy a new appliance.)

What I really LOVE is the Ninja Cooking System that I bought recently. There's an infomercial on TV, but it can be bought at Kohl's, Walmart, Target, Bed Bath Beyond, Home Depot, etc. The best deal is buying it at Kohl's when they have 30% off. (Around $110) It's a combination slow cooker, stove top cooker, and oven. So, you can sear your meat right in the appliance, and then use the slow cooker for the rest of the process. You can also bake desserts, roast meat, boil, sear, etc. I recently relegated my slow cooker to the basement shelf, and the Ninja Cooking System lives on the kitchen counter now.

I got this as a Xmas present (I've seen it cheaper than Amazon): http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-Cook-Central-Multi-Cooker-7-Quart/dp/B0053WRWX8

It's certainly not cheap, but it's amazing. It's a slow cooker, roaster, steamer, and you can brown things in it. I swear it does everything but my laundry.

Got to agree with these two ladies and confuse you a bit more. ;) A third version of the above is the Wolfgang Puck 6 qt. Versacooker which also sears, slow cooks, roasts, bakes, etc. (I've also put my "regular" crockpot into the back corner, as it's so much less trouble to brown and slow cook in one pot.)

It's currently sold out on HSN, but was usually going for around $90/free shipping when available.

I researched that one before I bought my Ninja. I'm pretty sure the the Wolfgang Puck Versacooker has been discontinued. Too bad, since it seemed like a cool product.

Bigger is not necessarily better. Slow cookers work most efficiently when they're no less than half and no more then 2/3 full. Most folks do fine with the standard 4 qt slowcooker for about $20.

In my case it is. I use my slow cooker for roasts and stews, the taller round ones won't accomodate most roasts with vegetables or stews without having the bottom scorch. I like the non stick aluminum insert on the All Clad, I can brown or get my stew up to temperature on the stove and then start the slow cooker process.Clean up is a lot easier too, my ceramic one always required soaking.

This was the best crock pot I ever owned. Unfortunately, it went kaput less than 2 years after I got it. Still trying to decide whether to buy the same model or something else.
