.. yes, I know there is a hurricane blowin through Olrando. I figured now was a good a time as any to make my ressies, since they are going to be fairly complicated. I knew the FL call center would be closed.. but figured no one else would be calling, and I would have plenty of time to get the ressies just right. So, I called CRO at about 8 EST -- was on hold till 10:40 EST only to be told they aren't making any ressies - for this weekend or any other time!

2.5 hours of switching off being 'on hold' with DH. <sigh> I guess I wouldn't be so annoyed, but I've called atleast 3 or 4 times this week and hang up after waiting on hold for 20-30 minutes.

..which brings up another peeve, why can't you book a discounted room online through the wdw online reservation system? The online system's price is about double the AP rate, or the public codes. And since the discount's are based on availability, you can't book it just to reserve your room and then call later and have the discount applied.

ok.. thanks for letting me blow off some steam. They said they would be taking reservations again on Tuesday. I strongly, but politely asked them to update the initial announcement when you call to say that no ressies will be taken- so that no one else has to wait.

I should have done the same yesterday after I waited just a little over an hour... I even called back to confirm the message. At no time did they say "don't bother, we're not doing reservations". Nope, the message thanked us for calling and said there might be a longer than normal wait... I was game, had nothing else to do.

I called this evening 6:15 Central and got through in 20-25 minutes. No problems getting 1 night at Pop Century at AP rate($49+ tax) for our arrival night... guess they've caught up.

I had a 1/2 hr wait Sunday am to reschedule my ressie. My flight on Monday was cancelled, and the CM worked very hard to find me a later date with a code. Unfortunately, many people took their anger out on the CM's because their vacations were ruined by the hurricane. These poor CM's had to work during the storm, and try to be nice while rescheduling or cancelling with irate people. She spent a good 1/2 hr with me, and was very pleasant, but sounded tired.

As DebbieB posted, the fall discount is available on line ---- I've checked on it multiple times. When you come to the reservations page, keep scrolling down to the bottom and click on discounts or special rates --- can't remember what they call it exactly. It does seem to me that they're not exactly advertising the special rates in big letters.

It's not the spoiled vacation that angers people, it's the wait.

I was tempted to post any Disney 800 number I get wind of (yes there are some) but then I might be blacklisted from this Forum.

Another goodwill gesture would be to refund no-shows during times of emergency so people can mail or email their cancellation requests (I mean plans) instead of calling and waiting to cancel.

All cancellation and change fees, except airline, were waived during the hurricanes.

You have to remember that there was a huge amount of calls due to the storms and that both the Tampa and Orlando call centers were closed.

The CM's that were working worked long hours and dealt with a lot of guests who felt that it was Disney's fault that the hurricanes passed through the Orlando area.
