Trying to figure out a plan of which park and on which day.

Heading down in Feb (2 -10) flights are booked and non-refundable. We have 7 full days, and 1 partial day to visit the parks(we have a 6pm flight on the last day). 7 day park hopper and am wondering if we should get an 8 day ticket. (and is a Park hopper worth it, tho it is only $85 extra for the full week)

We do want to get the most out of our trip and want to hit each park for a full day, most likely get Genie+ and save 1 day as a non-park day - shopping, relaxing and resting feet. I suspect Sunday will be a madhouse in all the parks, so we think we should make this our break day.
  • Friday - Epcot (focus on rides)
  • Saturday - Hollywood Studios (again ride focused)
  • Sunday - Relax day perhaps - Disney Springs
  • Monday - Magic Kingdom
  • Tuesday - Animal Kingdom
  • Wednesday - Epcot (our anniversary World showcase, some rides)
  • Thursday - Magic Kingdom (shows and some rides
  • Friday - Hollywood Studios (shows) or Animal Kingdom (shows)
Thoughts, what you you do differently?

My experience is that Saturday is usually much busier than Sunday. But since that is your second day you probably don't want it as a rest day.
I always plan on a day off and we always end up wanting to be in a park, even if it's only half a day. Given the price difference between a 7 and 8 day ticket, I usually just get the extra day :)

If you're staying on-site, a PH may be worth it,especially if some of the parks have extended evening hours. Otherwise your dance card looks pretty full and not sure you'd have the time/energy to PH.

DW and I APs so I PH when their are extended park hours. DW rarely if ever PH's as shes tired after a few hours in the parks and a big meal. She likes to chill in the ressort as I head out for a few more hours of 'exercise' and fun.

Either way, have fun. Trying to do too much can dampen the overall experience.

We are going around the same time, so happy to follow along with the feedback you get!

Who is in your travel party? Adults/kids?

  • Friday - Epcot (focus on rides)

  • Saturday - Hollywood Studios (again ride focused)

  • Sunday - Relax day perhaps - Disney Springs Animal Kingdom

  • Monday - Magic Kingdom Relax & Disney Springs

  • Tuesday - Animal Kingdom Magic Kingdom

  • Wednesday - Epcot (our anniversary World showcase, some rides)

  • Thursday - Magic Kingdom (shows and some rides

  • Friday - Hollywood Studios (shows) or Animal Kingdom (shows)
Weekends are very BUSY in Disney Springs.

I put Rest & Relax Day in middle of the trip.

Animal Kingdom has quite a bit of walking.

Many people arriving on the weekend head to Magic Kingdom on Monday.

Have an awesome time!
Hugs Mel

Where are you staying ? If eligible for the on-site deluxe resort evening hours they are very worthwhile to schedule your park passes around. Usually Epcot is Monday and MK is Wednesday.

I'm in agreement with putting the rest day in the middle. In fact, you might want 2 rest days. That's a lot packed into a week. PH???? I'm always on the fence about that. We have had it many times and did in fact use it but most of the time we don't have it and it really is no big deal. I think it might be more dependent on your touring style. If you are a park open to park closed commando a PH might be worthwhile. We don't do that. We go early morning and stay until lunch-ish then go back to the resort to relax for a few hours then back to park around dinner and stay as late as we feel like. We rarely do two park days in a row. That said we have been more times than I can count.....1-3 times a year, every year from 2004 and a few random trips before that. We did take 2 years off to enjoy a pandemic. So for us there is no need/want to try and squeeze it all in.

A couple of points....
I don't find DHS to be a more than one day park. Two days could be great if the plan is to make them more like partial rest days or to include some ADR's which are time consuming.
AK can be a one day park if you are willing to make it a loooong day. Similar to DHS two days could make it more laid back....maybe a sleep-in morning or use some time for an ADR.
Avoid DS on the weekends like the plague.
Genie+ ...do your research, it is not worth the money for all the parks and requires some knowledge to get the most out of it. Check the LL's as in some cases it could be a better purchase.

If friday is your fly day,,you want to be at airport 3 hours ahead,,so 3pm,,count on leaving approx 2-215pm from your resort or park. For us we use travel day as a day at DS to just get any last minute things,,have a nice lunch and then make our way. So I would vote for no 1/2 day on last day,,but that is us.
Need a bit more info for rest of week,,,how many in party? where are you staying? ages of kids if any.
Enjoy.

Just two adults on this trip. Our adult kids have little interest in travelling with us, unless Dad is paying (LOL). We have Nexus and are flying premium, so time at MCO should be minimal, planning on leaving the hotel at 2:30 - 3pm (ish) depending on how we book our transport to the Airport.

Just two adults travelling and staying in the park at Port Orleans. Follow along!

Good idea, plan for the day off and have the opportunity to hit a park in the evening. Perhaps get a dinner and watch the show in either MK or Epcot, where you are not pressured to go, go, go,

Mort is correct…you will need to be leaving to the airport 2-2:15. It is highly recommended to be 3 hours early at this airport. If I remember correctly Nexus and pre check are the same line which is often just as long as the regular line because there are fewer staff.

In general MCO is pretty light on staff these days. Lines have always been long there but they are longer now. I’ve been there twice this year and my DD once…all 3 trips took 2-2.5 hours to get from the curb to the gate.

Thanks for the comments, and food for thought.

I agree with the MK Monday and Spring busy on the weekends. A rest in the middle is always nice. We are there some of the same time (Feb 4th to 14th) and not following this as this might be our last trip for a while. With just the 2 of you there is a lot of options and things will be easier. We are going with are two kids (15 and 12) and we have tickets for all day including the arrival and departure days and PH as we wanted to keep all options open.

<<we have tickets for all day including the arrival and departure days and PH as we wanted to keep all options open>>.
That is a good idea. We have a 7 day PH and the difference for a 8 day PH is minimal. This most likely our last trip to WDW.

Perhaps on our day off (from racing from ride to ride) we can go and watch one of the evening shows at MK, EP or HS.

We travel the same way. Pre check lanes have been quick for us. Even as recent as 3 weeks ago. We always arrive at MCO 2 hours ahead of our flight and it's usually under 30 minutes from dropping off the rental car to getting off the tram.
