DH, DS5 and DD2 are going to MK first week of oct. here are my plans. Can I do it all in two days w/2 young kids or am I way off base. I figure the crowds will be low to moderate on 1st day (sun 10/1) and low on 2nd day (tues, 10/3). I am trying to get everything we want to see on Day one so we can relax on our second day in MK. Tell me what you think.

Day One
9:00-11:00

Dumbo
Winnie
Peter Pan
Small World
Cinderella's carousel
Mickey's Philharmagic

11:00-12ish: Toontown, play, get wet, blow off steam

12:00-5:00 back to FW to nap, swim, eat, relax

5:00-back to MK (MNSSHP)

Buzz Lightyear
Indy Speedway
Jungle Cruise
Pirates of Caribbean
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Country Bear Jamboree
Halloween stuff
Parades
Fireworks
Back to FW by 10:30-11:00

Day 2: redo favorites, hit maybe rides like splash mountain and haunted mansion.

is it doable?

Whoa! You gave me whiplash just thinking about it. ;)

It does take time to travel between attractions, plus all the distractions of being in the MK. Allow some time to visit characters. Where you will be at in the park does get characters.

I used the official guide to talk to my kids about which attractions to visit. It has some pictures and ride descriptions. It really helped my kids to narrow down what attractions to do.

Something else, you might want to split up if the 5 year old is adventuresome. Splash Mountain is a favorite of my son. My DH and I split up all the time because my DD doesn't like the roller coasters.

I would get a # 1 attraction from each child and make sure to get on it. Any other attractions would just be gravy. :)

so...six rides in two hours is a bit much, huh? :flower:

I guess I thought if the crowds were reasonably light and the attractions were in the same area (fantasyland, tomorrowland, toontown all on one side of park), that it was doable. I guess I live in fantasyland!! :flower:

What do you think I should tone down or do? I was hoping to hit scarier rides like splash mountain and Haunted mansion on day two at our leisure because DS5 is not adventuresome and insists that we NOT go on any fast rides.

If you are really in MK at or close to 9am, I think your Sunday morning is very doable. We've done that and more--although with one child. I also expect MNSSHP will be pretty light that night, but I wouldn't get too focused on rides then. Take in the Halloween activities, trick or treat, etc. We have found that the party goes quickly without riding much, plus your kids are little and may not make it through the whole party

You may want to save your Tomorrowland rides for your second morning in MK, as these (esp the Speedway) can get lines quickly. Don't forget the TTA there, a great relax and a nice tour of Tomorrowland. If DS isn't really adventurous, then you may just want to revisit some of Fantasyland or scoot over to Adventureland, which often opens later than the rest of the park.

If your experience is like ours, you will get more done in the first two hours of MK opening than in the whole rest of the day. Use those hours for the most important attractions, consider everything else is a bonus. Enjoy!

With small kids...

Get to the park entrance AT LEAST 20 minutes before it opens on a light crowd day.

Go straight to Dumbo as fast as they will let you when the rope drops and ride it.

Don't worry about the rest. Go at your kids pace. ride what you can, see the characters the kids want.

Take time to enjoy your kid's enjoyment of the park.

They'll like the pool at the resort better anyway. :rotfl2:

We took our DS just before he was one.

The thing he enjoyed most was stomping on a diamond plate metal cover that made noise in MGM (The metal plate over a utility vault). We have a great picture of it. He spent about 45 minutes stomping on it.

I think you can do it - we took 2 kids that age Feb 03 - of course crowds were very light. Thanks to DD3 who woke everyone up very early, we were at the gate 15 mins prior to opening. But we went straight to Fantasyland and did Dumbo, Tea Cups, Carosel, Snow White, Pooh, Peter Pan - all in the first 1 to 1 1/2 hours - we literarly walked on from one to another - stopped to see Alice near the tea cups - there was no Philharmonic at the time -

By 11 am my kids had seen their highlights and the rest was icing on the cake!

In the morning, focus on Dumbo, Small World and Philharmagic. These are close to each other, relatively speaking. And I agree with whacked, Dumbo first.

I agree with Merriwind. MNSSHP is very enjoyable without doing a single ride. The storyteller rocks! The parade is really cool!

Thanks for the advice, everyone! sounds like the a.m. plan is reasonably doable if crowds and small children cooperate. I'm pretty flexible, just trying to give them everything I can without exhausting them.

P.m. plan-should probably switch tomorrowland stuff to first thing tuesday morning and concentrate more on party. Maybe adventureland stuff, too.

sound reasonable?

you can do it. everyone told me my plans were undoable but even with heavier than expected crowds, i did everything i wanted at the MK except stich in one day 9-5.

dont forget to do the tiki birds. im 28 and thought they were great but not as good as the country bears. they were hillarious.
