Day Two (Nassau):
I was up early. We decided to have breakfast at Tritons, buffets with kids being a hassle. But my daughter was not very well behaved and my husband and her ended up going back to the room for a little bit after breakfast for a time out. My son and I wandered the ship and realized that Donald and Daisy were going to be at Parrot Cay around 9:00. So we went back to the room and got DH and DD and had a second breakfast at Parrot Cay. Turned out to be very productive ..Donald Daisy and Pinocchio, then Alice and Captain Hook. No photographers around, but the kids had their autograph books and cameras.
We took the Glass Bottom Boat Excursion. We had great weather and a very good time. It was a fairly long hike for my DDs little legs from the ship to the GBB, but doable. The kids were bored silly for the harbor tour part (they dont care who owns what house), but they loved it when we got out to the reef and saw the fish. We also got lucky enough to be able to see the shipwreck (a ship that went down in 1945 and was then blown up, so it lays flat on the ocean floor not too far out) which my son in particular thought very cool. The tour took a little longer than anticipated, but was fun. I wouldnt have huge expectations for it the Nassau reef isnt exactly the Great Barrier Reef, but we are glad we did it.
We got off the GBB and headed up to the Pirate Museum. It wasnt too difficult to find, but print out all the pages of the web site if you want to go. http://www.pirates-of-nassau.com It was free for the kids pricey in a tourist trap fashion for the grown ups, but it came out to $20 for the family and was worth while. Most of it is pirate dioramas (think about walking through a more accurate Pirates of the Carribean with historical information posted alongside the non-moving mannequins. My little pirate loved it but we went through it far too quickly.
We were starving and needed to make it back to the boat for the 2:30 family bridge tour. We had pizza from Pinnocchios (which was OK the cheese and sauce are good, the crust leaves something to be desired at least according to my taste in pizza).
The bridge tour started late and wasnt interesting to the kids. Wed have been better off booking it for my husband alone while the kids and I went to the pool. It was interesting, just not great and the kids would have preferred to spend more time in the clubs or at the pirate museum.
We dropped the kids off at the kids clubs(pirate training for the five year olds was about to start) and my husband enjoyed some adult time in the whirlpool at quiet cove. The kids elected to stay in the kids clubs through dinner as did the kids of our table partners, so we had an adult dinner in Parrot Cay.
I had the Crab Newberg, the Papaya and Mango soup (sweet, rich and creamy) and the ribs. My husband raved about (and let me taste) the Sweet Onion Soup (which was very good, the winner of the soup/salad course). He had the mixed grill, but doesnt eat shrimp, so I got those as well (very good). The ribs were excellent but messy for being all dressed up. I had the crème brulee cheesecake AND the chocolate walnut cake for dessert and hubby had the pecan pie. All the desserts were good the crème brulee cheesecake (IMO) the best, although our dining companion didnt like the burnt sugar on the top.
We saw Gary Delana, who was really funny my husband got the page from my son halfway through the show, so he missed half (my son decided wed forgotten him he hadnt picked up on the whole tell someone when you want to leave. Given this, Id recommend stopping in for the younger set every few hours to check.)
I got to wait for Miss Media (DD) to fall asleep in front of the movie before hauling her back to the room at 10:00.
