Hi everyone, again.

I know Disney asks for a background check on all employees.

However, does any past convictions automatically disqualify someone from working as a Cast member or being accepted into the College Program?

I mean, obviously they wouldn't let in a covicted child molester, but how about any other small charges? Are the requirements a sparkly clean record?

I think they'd look at all cases separately but from Disney's viewpoint I don't see why they would hire someone with a criminal conviction - I mean, there's plenty of other people applying for that same position that potentially have a clean record and that's 1 less thing for them to worry about. They probably aren't going to hire someone that would be a liability to the company.

The type of criminal act is definitly taken into account but I know of some people who did get in even with minor offenses on record from when they were much younger.

Convictions don't automatically disqualify you, but a conviction paired with a weak interview probably would.

Depending on the type of act it was, and how long ago it was, paired with an awesome interview could still get you in the program.

I got in with a conviction on my record.

You just have to disclose the details of the conviction after your phone interview, and then they take that into consideration when they are looking at your application.

And therefore only adult convictions would need to be disclosed?

And so long as they're insignificant compared to the better aspects an emlpoyee has to offer, they don't really matter?

i believe that everything has to be disclosed, and it's really a case-by-case basis. When you get to filling out the application, it'll spell it out pretty clearly what you need to tell them.

Whatever you do, don't lie and not disclose something they ask for. If they find out, you're as good as gone.

Yeah, but juvenile record gets erased... besides, I don't recall everything I'd have to disclose, if that was the case.

Full disclosure is kind of a big deal, even in the case of juvenile offenses.

Often times one may think that the juvenile case record has been sealed or expunged from their record, when it hasn't.

If you fail to disclose something, and it comes up in your background check (which doesn't occur until you arrive) you will be sent home because you lied on an application.

true story. I've seen that happen. TWICE.

Kid thought something was removed from his record, but it wasn't. he got all the way out there (this was at DLR) and he was asked to leave. His record wasn't even that bad, but it was the fact that he wasn't honest with them.

I'd suggest going to your local police station and ask them for a backgroun check for yourself. As if you were getting it for a potential employer. It may cost like $10 but you'll know what shows up and what doesn't.

Will do! Thanks. And you're right, I'm starting to worry I won't have enough time to court-petition the closure of my record before applying for the college program. I'm pretty sure Disney won't be understanding if I disclose some stuff, so I want to make sure I double check what my background check will look like before I leave.
