Forgive me if this has been covered. I just want to make sure I understand things before I spend my $$ lol.

I had a small cricut for several years and now have an expression (not 2) for about the last year.

I would like to be able to weld letters as I primarily use the cricut for fonts.

1) can I weld with the gypsy alone if I get one without doing anything with the computer? I usually don't crop at home, more at retreats etc.

2) If I were to buy a digital download of a retired cart (mickey font, I am looking at you) would I just download it in craft room (free?) and be able to then have it on my gypsy?

What price should I target for a used gypsy if I decide to go that route?

Thank you!!

You can weld with just the Gypsy. You need a WiFi connection to use the Craftroom, so if you don't have one at a crop or retreat, you'd be out of luck.

Craftroom is free, yes. You would download the digital content, but I don't think you can link to your Gypsy, yet...I believe it is in the works. But, I'm not positive about that, I know you can't link cartridges from your Gypsy to the Craftroom yet, I'm not sure about linking from the Craftroom to the Gypsy. For instance, I like the size of Craftroom to design, but hate having to switch out cartridges when I connect the E2 to the computer to cut. So, I wind up syncing the files from the Craftroom to the Gypsy when I'm ready to cut.

HTH!

thanks for your response! I think I understand....I think I want a gypsy, but considering it is almost the cost of the expression, it is hard to stomach!

I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a Gypsy. I've got one, so I haven't been looking at the prices, but if you wait until Black Friday, you may be able to get a really good deal.

I bought my gypsy from an online store, cricutmachine.com, some people have had trouble with them I have never had any problems with them but I got my gypsy on sake for around $60 or $65 can't remember exactly but it was brand new in box and I love it.

I had a credit card hacked after buying from CricutMachine.com. Over $3000 in charges for some 'charity.' I won't buy from them again.

I use PayPal when I buy from there, it's safer than buying directly through their site, their site must not have a good security but Paypal does, I haven't had any problems.

You can also check eBay for gypsy, I'm real anal when it comes to my stuff like that, I would never buy a used one.
