I have a few questions. I am not a scrapbooker, but wanted to get a Cricut to make cards, gift tags... would it be worth it for me since this is not a cheap machine to get? Does it come with the Disney cartridge? If not, how much is it, and where can I get it from? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

ETA-Does anyone have a Craft Lite Cutter? If so, do you like it? What is the pros, and cons of it?

I am a card & tag maker. I do not scrap.

I have a cricut. I LOVE it. Unless you are getting a bundle of some sort, the basic cricut comes with a cartridge called George and Basic Shapes. This is a nice "get your feet wet cartridge"

I downloaded the trial version of the Design Studio, which for the trial version means you can only use it with the George cartridge for the basic cricut.

The basic cricut comes will cut on a 6 x12" mat, the expression will do 12 x 12 and 12 x 24" mats.

I just have the basic cricut, and about 5 or 6 cartridges.

The cricut is nice when my DD needs letters cut out for "stupid" art projects that are usually assigned by her American History teacher.

At times, ACMoore has cricuts for about $130 or so. (You can order online, and I've heard that for your first order, they do not charge shipping.)

Hope this helps a little!

Oh - and be sure to check out the cricut.com website. They have a great message board, and many people upload cards every day, in addition to the scrapping stuff and other projects that people share.

For cards I would recommend the little Cricut. No need to spend lots of money for a size you won't be making.

I have both machines. And I always seem to gravitate to my little one first. If you get it, I'll be happy to help you with in any way I can.

if you are thinking that you may want to make signs, like for yard sales, birthday parties, etc. go big. the big e can make much larger letters and still make your small letters, etc.

i have the baby bug and now want to get the cricut expressions. i believe in buying once and buying the right one first. unfortunately, when i bought not a lot of people had the e.

you can also cut vinyl lettering to put on your walls or fireplace mantels. so, the larger cuts might be more of what you want. :goodvibes

just mho..

MHO the small one will do everything that you want for cards. Walmart carries them for about $187 and they have the cartridges for them too, much cheaper than I have found anywhere else. There are 2 Disney cartridges. One is the alphabet and one is for characters. Either machine uses all cartridges. Neither one needs to be hooked up to a computer to work but there is software that you can load onto your computer and use with the Cricut.

I have the E but I do a lot of scrapbooking. I also have a Wishblade and several die cuts. You will definitely enjoy the machine.

Hope this helps.

I have both of the above. LOVE my Cricut! Got it at Michael's when they first started selling them - they do put them on sale from time to time.

Just purchased the Craft Lite Cutter today after almost buying over the phone when I saw the commercial. Fortunately, my phone connection got dropped and I happened to pull it up on the computer. Saw alot of negative reviews so was somewhat concerned about the quality. When I saw that Linens N' Things carried them now ($19.99), I decided to purchase there with a 20% off coupon - knowing, too, that I could return it to them if I wasn't pleased.

I just came home and tried it out. I found the straight edge blade to be extremely dull but since I have several other cutters, that wasn't a problem for me. The other blades seemed to work well - I did have to make several passes with a couple of them if I was using cardstock or photo paper - others worked quite well. The Wavy and ZigZag cuts are almost identical - but overall, I think I'll keep it as I like them and particularly the stamp, fold and perforated cuts. The light worked well for me. It's light plastic and certainly not high, high quality - but for me it will be worth it as I won't be overusing it or have any children using it.

Hope this was helpful!
