Once again, DW has asked me to post a question about the Cricut--specifically the cutting mats.

What does everyone use to restore the "tackiness" to the cutting mats when the original adhesive starts to fail?

Any help would be appreciated.

My DW thanks you in advance!!

I have used baby wipes to wipe them off and that seems to restore some stickiness. I have also heard of people using craft spray adhesive on them. Some think that is too much hassle so they just buy new mats.

I did the baby wipe thing, and it worked for a bit, but I was still buying mats like crazy. So after reading what others did, I bought the really big zig pen (the applicator part is like an inch wide). You apply a thin layer to the mat, and when it dries it is tacky. Seems to be working for me so far.

I wipe mine down with a baby wipe when I'm finished cutting for the day and then put the plastic sheet back on it right after. It's worked fine and my mats seem to last quite a while. I also make sure not to leave my mat uncovered, I always make sure it has the plastic sheet ontop because the air seems to take some of the sticky away from it if it's exposed for too long.

I always put the plastic sheet back on my mat after using. When the mat gets a little unsticky, I wipe it with a baby wipe, but for really unsticky mats, I use K&Company's Liquid Adhesive. It comes in a little bottle with a sponge-top applicator and works great! Since you can apply it only where you want it, you don't have to worry about taping the sides of the mat like you do with spray adhesives.

Thanks all!

My wife has been using spray adhesive to restore the mats' tackiness, but it has gotten to the point where it no longer works.

I've passed along all your suggestions, and (I think) she is buying new mats. We;ll see!

Thanks, again!
