Is the Disney hotel cribs sturdy enough for a toddler (2yr old)?? Does anyone have a picture they can post?

Thanks

Its a pack and play crib at every WDW resort. I am sorry I don't have a picture but a quick search will yeild the typical pack and play. IMHO they are fine for a baby and also fine for most toddlers except those on the larger size or those prone to climbing out. My dd's at 2 would have done fine in a PnP but you will have to decide for yourself if a PNP is ok for your child. If not my SIL rented a fullsize crib from an orlando baby supply rental (abbf.com) and thought it was worth the price for the rental.

My DS2 is big(weighs about 40#) and fits in a pack n play just fine. We used one for the first time last month on vacation. It was his first time not sleeping in his own bed, and he slept like a rock. :woohoo:

The crib we received from the Poly was nice and sturdy (porta crib size, not full size) for my very tall 17 mo. old. By the time he was 26 mos. old, the crib was too small. By small I mean not long or wide enough. He wasn't a climber but he moved around a lot so the larger pnp was better for him. By the time he was 2.5 yrs old, he did better in a bed with side rails. HTH. Have fun :)

P.S. I have a pic of the crib I can dig up later if no one else has one.

I would love to see a picture of the crib at the Poly. I know it is not a PacknPlay like some of the other resorts and I am really curious. We are staying for 9 nights and I am debating whether to splurge and rent a full sized crib or not. Other than the money, I worry about having that big thing in the room taking up space, if the smaller one will work okay.

Use the pack n play - the cribs are awful. They are really high off the ground & metal which is very cold & sterile in my mind. My girls would not stay in them at all.

Ok, here is a picture of a crib at the Poly. It is wooden but if I remember correctly, we had a metal one the last trip. It isn't the greatest photo but it is something. We used a pnp from the poly the first night but my ds prefers a crib so the next day we asked for one and got it that evening. HTH. :)

Mistaroo, many thanks for the photo! Love your view, btw.

Wow, did you keep the crib in that spot. Seems like it is right in the way of the daybed and the balcony doors . . .

So, we can request either a PacknPlay or a different portable crib at the Poly???

Yea, we kept the crib in that spot. The photo angle makes it appear that the crib is right up next to the balcony but it is not. Plus, the balcony door opens more in the middle, not the end, so access wasn't blocked at all. The crib is blocking about 2/3 of the daybed but we weren't using it. There really wasn't another spot for the crib. Before they renovated the rooms there was a perfect spot between the armoire and the wall but the new desk and wall unit filled that area in. I have a couple other photos that will show you the crib from a different angle if you think that you be helpful to you.

Yes, in my experience you can request a pnp or a crib but there is no guarantee you'll get an actual crib. I've always been able to get a crib though. Oh, and I love that room view, too. Hawaii building :)

Yeah, I would love to see more pictures. I am really concerned about where to put the crib in those new Poly rooms. We are also staying in Hawaii, but GVC . . . alas not the same view. Someone suggested moving the chair and ottoman up a bit and putting it in that corner . .. what do you think?

Anyway, you think the crib is better or the PacknPlay. Some of the cribs are metal?? Do they supply the sheets?

Sorry for so many questions, but would appreciate your input!

Ok, so there is not enough room next to the wall unit/desk. The luggage rack was only wide enough for a box of diapers. You could roll the desk section out and put the crib there but then where do you put the desk, kwim?

Behind the chair is a possibility for the crib but there is a little table and massive lamp base behind it. In our case we used the chair a lot so it was best to have the crib in front of the daybed.

To answer your other questions, I liked the crib much better because my kids slept well in it. They never slept in a pnp at home so they didn't adjust to it well at all. The pnp would have been easier in that we could have taken it down when not in use. I looked at older pics and the crib we had at the poly back in early 2004 was also wooden. I realize now that I simply saw a white metal one in the hall of the poly, I never actually had one in my room. Oh, and yes they do supply the sheets.

When are you going? We are going in Dec.

We are going Sept 29 - Oct 8. Our DS will be 18 months old. We will also have DS9 who is planning on sleeping in the daybed and DD15. We used a packnplay once for a trip to Atlanta and he did fine it, but we are going to be at WDW for 9 nights . . . I guess he will be fine. I really don't like that there is not an out of the way location for the crib though.

Love WDW in December. You will have a great time!

Thanks so much for the responses and also for the pictures. So helpful.

:thanks:

Thanks so much for posting the pictures.

Wow..what a beautiful view at the Poly. We currently have reservations at Port Orleans Riverside, but my DH wants to change hotel to the Poly.
