Cribs at AKL?

Hi all,

We are staying at AKL in March. My sons are ages 1 and 3. The 3 year old can take one of the double beds, but we'll need a crib for his little brother. I just read on another board that the AKL offers only pack n'plays, not actual cribs. Is this true? It might present a big problem for us as my baby is HUGE -- very tall (34 inches at 13 months old) and probably won't fit in a pack n' play. I'm too nervous to put my 36 month old in the top bunk so bunks are out too. Any ideas?

Hi Mainebound,

I believe most hotels now use the pack and plays as cribs. But another option are bed rails. I asked for my 2 year old who won't sleep in a crib. They told me at AKL that they could provide bed rails for me.

I don't know if that would help you.

Great idea! A bed rail would work. I could put them both in the double bed. Did you have to ask prior to arrival?

I mentioned it to the concierge desk when I was speaking to them the other day, but I think that you should call and have it noted on your reservation. I believe they are complementary, and like a crib, housekeeping will provide them.

Just remind them at check in, that you'll need them.

Yes, all the AKL does provide is pack 'n plays or a small crib, which looks like a crib, but is the same size as a pack 'n play. Bedrails would be a good substitute. If you're interested, you can rent a full size crib from an outside source. I've read good things about www.abbf.com on the family board. I believe a full-size crib would run around $70 for a week.

We just got back from GF-Sugarloaf. DS just turned 1yr and is 33" long, pack and play don't work. Before expense of offsite, mention to AKL that you know GF has full size metal cribs. Ask if they have access to them. I think the deluxes are going to these. The crib was great!. It comes with bumper pads and flat sheet. No crib blanket though. We had our own so no problem.
