Hi all,
We are headed to Disney in May:woohoo: and my youngest will be 18.5 months at that time. Our last trip, my middle one was 15 months and managed ok in a pack and play but that was his last time sleeping in it. Our youngest definitly is a kid who likes his own bed, so I dont see him sleeping well with me either;) . I was all set to just use the free pack and play I can get at the resort but then I started thinking, maybe I should rent a crib. I looked into it and it would be about 90 dollars for the week.

What have you done in the past? Do you think a pack and play will be awfully small for a tall 18 month old? I hate to spend the extra money on one hand, but on the other... we need sleep that week too!!

I rent a full size crib from baby's best friend. Have done it twice now and love it. It is comforting seeing your baby so relaxed in his own bed, just like at home. My 2 year old was in a twin bed before he turned two so I just shared my king size bed with him, this next time though, I will be renting a toddler bed from baby's best friend for him so he can have his own bed and then the baby will move in with me. I hope that makes sense.

DD sleeps in our pack and play wherever we go, and she's just fine in it. We were at my mom's over the weekend, and she was just fine. She's 19 months old :)

I think you'd be OK without a crib. At least with a Pack and Play you know what you're getting... I don't think I'd trust a rental crib.

I'd go with a pack and play. You don't know if you can even trust a rental crib, plus most 18 month olds can climb out of them and I wouldn't want to worry about my child climbing out of bed in the middle of the night (my dd isn't even close to being tall for her age, but she still manages to climb out of a crib, no matter how low the mattress is set lol).

Rent full size from A babys best friend. I did this when DS was 12 months and it was great. Very clean and Dh put it together, very sturdy crib. I have read nothing but great reviews here about ABBF, I also rented the graco stroller and a cd player. I am planning to get a toddler bed for my next trip. I think one night is ok in a PNP but for a longer trip a crib is better, especialy if that is what the child sleeps in at home. Just my 2 cents, I have a photo of the crib if you want to see it, have fun!!!!!!11

This has been a very helpful thread. I will have a 1 year old and 3 year old at time of trip and have been wondering about sleeping arrangements.

I'd like to get more info about the rental company you mentioned. Do they have a website? Or can I do this through our resort (concierge)?

Here is the link http://www.abbf.com/
I learned about them here on theDis. I only heard good things about them and I was happy. The only small issue was that the staff at the Poly could not find our things for a short time but that was all. They have alot of items you might want. I have a photo of the stroller and the crib if anyone wants me to post.

Thanks so much! I would love a photo of the crib as that is exactly where I was looking at renting it from. Thank you!

My DS is very tall and I just worried he will be cramped in a PNP. For a weekend it would probably be ok, but I would worry about 8 nights. He has yet to climb out of the crib at home (I am very blessed in that my older two were in a crib until over 2.5 and never climbed out... though I probably just cursed myself for saying that!!!:rotfl: )

I am glad others had good luck with this company!!!

Oh and one more question... for those of you who rented a full size crib, did it make the room feel cramped? I cant remember space wise!

When I called to request a pack n play at my disney resort, they also had a crib option. I am not sure of the size though, so I went witht he pack n play.

You should call your hotel, many do offer full size cribs as well. If you decide to go with ABBF, they also have crib tents, $16 for the week, if you're worried about your child climbing out. Good luck!

My DGD just turned one on Feb. 1. We have a crib at our house as well as a pack'n'play. She will nap in the pnp but definitely wants her bed at night. I would rent a crib.

the "cribs" at the Poly looked like 1950's institutional type, photobucket is giving me a hard time, I will try to post asap. We stayed at the poly and space was not an issue, I think that you will be ok at
WL as well.

I am going to try to post....

Hope this works
I used sheets from home but he loved the bumper so much I left it on.

Sorry for the BIG picture! The pillow of Pooh we got while at WDW , he still sleeps with it!

I couldn't agree more with this. When DD was 18 months old we stayed at the Desert Palms hotel and we arrived VERY late at night and we had asked for a crib. Well they forgot, but luckily we brought our pack n play. They did bring it later the next day and DD did have a hard time sleeping in the pack n play. Well the next night she slept well in the crib but they are very instituitional looking. If I can find a pic I will post it. But it worked for us.

For us I wouldn't rent a full size crib when I can bring the pack n play or get a crib from the hotel. But you need to do what will work best for your family.

Thanks for posting the picture... what a little doll!!! SOOO cute!

I think I am going to go ahead and rent from ABBF. When I asked the TA she said most resorts just have PNPs now and very few real cribs. I dont want to get there and not have the option.

Thanks everyone for helping with advice!

You are welcome. We had bell services store the box from the crib for us. I am wondering if anyone has a photo of the toddler bed, hmmm. The stroller was the exact one from the website photo. Any more questions just ask!

Our DS does not like to sleep or even sit in a pack-n-play. He just tosses and turns all night because he is so used to having a crib to move around in. We stayed at the Contemporary in September and requested a tried and true crib for our room. I called over and over again just to be sure that we would have a crib, not a pnp. I was assured there would be one in our room. We packed our own crib sheets and DS breathable bumper to make it more like home. When we arrived my DSIL had a crib in her room but our room had a pnp. I asked the CM to find a crib since we were guaranteed one and they did everything they could to find it. Finally a mousekeeper came with the crib looking at me like I was nuts. He told me that he had to go to a storage unit at another Disney hotel to get this crib and not to let it out of my sight!

I was so thankful because I knew DS would sleep so much better. If you are staying on property I know they have them but it can be hard to track one down. Just be persistant. Our crib was metal with high ends and fixed sides. DS slept like a dream every night! I didn't feel weird about borrowing the crib (knowing all the stories behind bad cribs) because there were no drop-down sides and DH checked all the screws and parts before we put DS in it.
