Crew's Cup Lounge Changes Aren't Cool

Based on the current menu, it looks like Mickey Mouse is moving Crew's Cup lounge towards being an arm of Yachtsman, similar to the lounge for California Grill, where you can order a subset of items from Yachtsman's menu but the items that were traditionally offered are no longer available. When we first stayed at Yacht Club (can't recall the year, but around 2008?), you could order wings, truffle fries, a wedge salad, a burger, and a few other affordable and tasty items. Now the menu includes $36 prime rib, $34 skirt steak, and $19 shrimp cocktail or cheese plate. The wedge salad and truffle fries are still offered by Ale & Compass Restaurant, so Mickey could include them on the menu but doesn't. We liked being able to stop at Crew's Cup on arrival night for some late night snacks, or in the evening after having fun at the park, but these menu changes don't strike me as being for the better. Maybe I'm just getting old.

That's too bad, we liked the Crew's Cup Lounge as it was. The truffle fries are fantastic! I am glad they are still at Ale & Compass Restaurant.

We had the bread service and deviled eggs there in January so it’s not all large expensive plates.

Yeah, the large expensive plates were on the old menu too. They still have a burger, and a Yacht dog (which actually is made of Prime rib) and sliders. I actually like the menu! pirate:

Not sure how this link will work but here's a 2015 menu photo. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/crews-cup-lounge-orlando-2?select=scVUZe8W2yqo7CCxlOEKcA. This is more of what I'm thinking about--pretty diverse and a pretty broad price range. Granted, the current menu does have a bread service option for $7 and a ceasar salad for $12, but seems to me that you had more options at broader price points on the old menu. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy now.

I like a lot of the entrees on the old menu. I agree it seems better.

I wasn't too impressed with their menu when we were there in Sept. I had the salad one night and it was a big deal that they were able to switch out the dressing for me and the other evening I just had the burger but it couldn't be cooked to order, I don't remember why but all I could taste was burned meat. It used to be such a nice and easy place to get something kind of quick in a nice setting esp since we usually stay at the Boardwalk but I'm not really looking to go back on our next trip.

Ok I know the menu you refer to is now plus or minus 3 years old...
How is Mickey going to serve you a burger and fries here for 13.99 when he now charges 15.00 at a counter service for a lesser one?
we look at it this way: Mickey is in his 90's and on a fixed income so occasional he needs to increase his prices to maintain that income...
we don't like it either....

Well, I'm not sure the price comparison is entirely apt. You can get a burger at Beaches & Cream for around

Eh, I wasn't necessarily advocating for a $14 burger, but a more reasonably priced menu generally. You can get an $18 burger from Ale & Compass restaurant and I see no reason that couldn't be offered at Crew's Cup, and Ale & Compass lunch/dinner menu includes many of the items that used to be offered at Crew's Cup but now aren't--lobster roll ($20), burger ($18), lump crab cake ($13), wedge salad ($10), etc. I think the point is more that Disney has limited the food choices and made the overall cost more expensive.
