Creepy Neighbor -- What to do? (long)

That's what gets me -- it would be his word against mine at that point because he's in his bedroom. Most of the time, he has a towel wrapped around him that he holds open and he could just say he was coming out of the shower. Coming out of the shower doesn't explain the  though.

At any rate, I'm going to call the police and see what they say.

Good, I think you are making a very smart choice. At the very least, you have documented a call.

The very same thing happened to my sister. It escalated from just flashing to him ummmmm.......indulging in a bit of "self gratification". She called the police, they took it seriously. He eventually wound up in prison (for some other reason), but the police definitely didn't dismiss her concerns.

I'd pretty much have to keep my digital camera in the car at all times because he only does it every few months or less.

Just keep it in your purse, and make sure to keep the batteries charged. That way you'll have it handy when he starts his  again :earseek:

I would definitely call the police.

Do you feel comfortable enough to call or send the guy a note to basically tell him to knock it off? Sometimes just confronting the flasher, calmly, and telling them, "I know what you've been doing. I don't like it, and I don't want to see you naked. Please stop it immediately." can help a lot.

I second the idea of leaving a note in his door asking him to knock it off. I'd also tell him that if his "shows" continue, you will call the police. (I'd call the police anyway.) Somehow I doubt he will stop -- sounds like he gets his "jollies" from flashing you.

Keep the video camera handy. Even if it isn't charged, just hold it up like you are videotaping anyway. Maybe if he sees you doing that, it will get him to stop.

This is serious and you MUST tell the police.

A few years ago on the outskirts of London there was a serial rapist of young children and women who was on the loose for a few years. His crimes were particularly horrific which I will not go into here. He was finally caught due to a female neighbour reporting her neighbour (which turns out to be this man) because he was doing exactly the same as you describe. The police tested him for DNA and he was caught. The neighbour also thought it was nothing at first but it went on for a while and got worse. This man was married and too.

I too used to think that flashing was harmless but I started reading true crime books and found out that many of these people start out flashing and then go on to commit much worse crimes.

I am sure the police will take it seriously too.

Sorry that you have to go through this.
