Creepy Animatronic Figures

Oh I've got like a crazy phobia of broken/abandoned/turned off/large animatronics.

Its not just animatronics.... like I said House of Wax freaked me out... oh and that freaky movie called The Hills Have Eyes... Stupid movies where the wax figures are in towns, looking like they are alive... Its super freaky.

I told DH he's not allowed to pick the movies anymore for Friday night movie night.....:rotfl2:

The animatronics in POtC aren't bad. Just make sure you don't say George three times in a row. You don't want to wake him up:)

I can take Grover Cleveland in Hall of Presidents, I can take Sigourney and freaky shiny Jane from Tarzan in The Great Movie Ride, I can take the pirate with the hairy leg on POTC, but the Country Bears that Hoe Down just make me ill.

I've never been afraid of the animatronics, no. The water in all WDW boat rides? 100% yes. The thought of having to get out in an emergency and walk through it freaks me out big time.

Oh my goodness, me too! Not just WDW rides though. Any water rides where you can't see the bottom creeps me out!

Dolls at IASW freak me out especially after reading kingdom keepers haha but I still ride it. And POTC definitely those look life like. Very creepy. I swear sometimes they switch them out with real people lol. :)

Did you see that SNL episode with JT as the guest host? Two riders got stuck in a lover's lane kind of ride and the life-sized animatronics got all creepy. Too funny.

Funny stuff. I looked it up on youtube... they have a Bruno Mars and Jim Carrey one too. The Jim Carrey one is pretty funny... The clips are about the Merryville Brothers..

Yeah, the Jack Sparrow ones are very lifelike... Probably the most lifelike out of all of them.. Of course, I'm not freaked out about Johnny Depp.. so I guess in my book, that one is ok. :)

And even riding the ferries to the resorts on Bay Lake is unsettling!

I have no problem at all with the figures, in fact, I'd love to get close to them if I could (especially the dinosaurs in Universe of Energy). But if I had to get in water to get near them then I'm out :scared:

Some of the animatronic townsfolk in the Wizard of Oz scene in The Great Movie Ride are creepy as heck.

The only one that creeps me out is the barefoot pirate on the bridge in POC. I SWEAR he watches me. :scared1: His foot is so gross! pirate:

Beware The Hairy Leg! BEWARE THE HAIRY LEG!!!!

The Platypus on the right in IASM always looked like he was angry. Couldn't figure out why.

I always found the bride in the HM was the most disturbing. The new one is properly creepy, but, not near as disturbing.

The Carnotarus. Specially when the ride crashes just after it screams at you for the photo and all the lights go off and you know it's there, but, can't see anything and you turned your brain off and really believe it's real and going to eat you and make sure your wife is on THAT side of the car when that happens. :)

It's the same effect when you have totally bought into the Dino ride and it shuts down as you are being teleported back at the end. It's even more dark there and "are we really in limbo?"

You guys are my people.

I'm fascinated but freaked out by animatronics. It's the uncanny valley effect. I long for more big dark rides full of AAs, but man do they make me feel uncomfortable. AA animals are not so bad, but the people...ugh. Especially when they shudder, like a recoil, after a big movement like an arm swing. And, like a previous poster said, a "dead" AA isn't much less creepy.

I'll still ride everything, except the very worst offender: IaSW. My family never understood this. I stopped going on it when I was old enough to wait outside alone for them and I'm NEVER going in that building again. There's a thread somewhere here where a poster was chosen to ride IaSW for a promo video and had to ride through with the sound off but with the AAs on and moving, and they could hear the clicking of all the dolls' movements. I get chills thinking about that post!

I'll still get on every ride when I visit next month for the first time since 2000...but nooooo IaSW. I'm telling my 4yo that mommy has to use the bathroom, and he can ride with his grandpa and uncle and hopefully hasn't inherited my phobia ;)

My wife has had big time issues with the water in those rides since we were in line for IASW and saw someone's dentures in the moat. Last trip we were getting in and I heard a muffled scream. Turns out the previous boat occupants had a little water splashing fight and she just sat down in a puddle of the scummy water on the seat. She made it through the ride but we immediately went and bought her a pair of sweats and I think she went the rest of the day commando.

AAs freak me out so much! Apparently once when I was younger I asked if I think the platypuses were going to throw the eggs (?) they were holding at us. I hate sitting on the outside because I feel like they're going to grab me or something! :rotfl2: Forget about the Great Movie Ride - in the Alien scene I always scoot over so he won't "get me." Good to know I'm not alone!
