Credit Card Reward Points- Pay for Christmas!

Hi all! I just wanted to share what I do for Christmas (besides those great free photobook things that sometimes come out)...

We spend our credit card reward points on retail gift cards. So far I have 3 $25 gift certificates in the works- Amazon, Target and Macy's.

I do this every year. I redeem all of our credit card rewards (DH travels a lot and racks up big points) and our debit card rewards for gift cards. So far I have 3 $25 for Target, 1 $10 for Kmart, 2 $25 for Walmart, 2 $10 for Starbucks, 1 $100 for Toys R Us, and 2 $50 for Marshalls, 2 $25 Chili's, and 2 $25 Applebees gift cards. I also have $150 in Amazon E-gift cards. Last year we only spent $55 cash for our Christmas. We have 4 children and 12 nieces and nephews.

Do you use the gift cards as actual gifts (that you give away?) or to purchase presents for others? or both? Great idea, either way.

Some of the gift cards I will give to teachers but most I use to buy the gifts for my children.
