We just applied for a Disney Visa, and they sent us a letter requesting a copy of my social security card! I've NEVER heard of this before, and needless to say I'm a little upset. I know they already have my SS#, but the thought of a physical copy of my card floating around their office stresses me out a little. Has anyone ever heard of this? Am I overreacting?

I would call and ask them if the request is real. Sounds like a scam

You are not overreacting at all, these days you can never tell who to trust, unless you go directly to the company.

Always be on the safe side :thumbsup2

And I would suggest first calling toll-free directory assistance to get the toll-free number for the Credit Card people. I would not call the number that is on the letter. IRS has a form, W-9, which is used to certify the correctness of a SSAN by a person when an employer or other company asks for the SSAN.
