We are going on our first family trip to Disney in June. My daughter (Who turns 6 May 21) has been begging to go to the castle and Disney for some time now.. I am going to tell her on her birthday about the trip and I have a lunch booked at CRT, so my idea is so have "Cinderella" send my daughter a birthday card and invite her to Disney and to the lunch.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this sort of thing and how you pulled it off or any ideas would be great!

Thank you in advance!

Head over to the creative Disigns board here - there are some amazingly talented people that do requests like this - but do remember to read the first page of their threads and note any specific ways of requesting, and also the y do them for free, fitting their designing around their life, so ask early!

"Breaking the news" has a negative connotation. I thought this thread was going to be about having to tell your daughter you were no longer going to Disney!

Oh no! I'm sorry I had no idea! I will edit the title to the post! Again, sorry for the confusion.

Thank you so much, I will check out that board!

i love that you are telling her ahead of the trip. Kids need transition time to process what is going on ...I'm not a big fan of telling kids on the way to the airport (for their first trip) for this reason. I think it's very upsetting to some kids. especially kids who are not flexible with change. Will she be part of the planning then? you could "favorite" some of the youtube clips about the rides or parades to help get her excited!

I think your plan is great! just be prepared for her reaction either way, since this is her first trip to Disney, she might not be as excited as you would think! "search failed disney surprise" LOL but since you have a week or so between the trip & surprise that will give her plenty of time to talk up the experience.

If you really wanted to go BIG with the reveal. you could have a friend dress up as Cinderella. but that's going pretty BIG!
ETA: I like this kids guidebook to help get her prepared! You could give it to her with the card from cindy! http://www.amazon.com/Birnbaums-Disney-World-Birnbaum-Guides/dp/1423169417

That is a good point about being prepared for a failed reaction! I never thought of that! Keeping my fingers crossed she is excited! :)

I can't wait until the reveal, it is so hard looking at all things Disney and not showing her! Great idea with the Youtube videos!
