Sorry in advance for the long post lol. My dd will be 13 9 days before Christmas and most of her Christmas list is gift cards (go figure lol). Anyhow, among some other things we are getting her for Christmas, I wanted to open up a teen checking account for her with my bank and deposit some $ in it for her in lieu of gift cards. This way she can also make her own deposits with $ that she earns, I can put a spending limit on her account if need be and I can also track the purchases she makes. It is also eliminating all the additional fees associated with gift cards, and this will also help to teach her about managing her own $. I have already spoken with the bank, and I can make it so that her account can never overdraw...if she doesn't have the $, the card will be declined so she will never be in the negative. My problem is I can't think of a creative way to give her her own debit card with the balance in her account for Christmas. Gift cards usually have the amount of the card directly on the front of the card whereas a debit card does not. Any possible help I would greatly appreciate
Thanks in advance!!
