Creative options for renting a few extra points?

We are squeezing an unplanned trip in October and are currently points poor. We are about 35 points shy of our desired reservation after borrowing. I doubt there are many owners who are willing to transfer a mere 35 points to our account. Also, I am not keen on dealing with the whole rental process.

Are there any loopholes to Disney's 24 one time use points rules? I have 2 contracts involved, can I rent points for each contract?

I'm just trying to be resourceful and think of creative and yet fairly painless options. I am on the waitlist to buy more VGC points so who knows - maybe that will come through in time, too.

Thanks all! :wizard:

I would not be so sure about that.

Is there a reason you are not keen? I would just go thru david's. Everyone seems happy with his service.

Not to mention, 1 time use points can not be purchased until the 7 months window, so availability can change.

I just like the idea of doing the transfer and being DONE. And having total control over my reservation. I will think on that some more though . . .

I have to wait till the 7 month mark no matter what because I am combining AKV and VGC points so no 11 month advantage. Plus even though it is a popular time I am trying to book a one bedroom Savannah view and so I think I'll be fine if I call right at 8 a.m. EST . . .

And if the whole thing doesn't come together it won't be the end of the world. It might be a sign to just stay Harry Potter World for cash instead. :cool2:

Do your two contracts have the same use year? If they have different use years, you can buy 24 points for each, but if they have the same use year, then you're limited to a single purchase.

You'll never know about a small transfer until you try - there are certainly members willing to transfer smaller numbers of points - the worst that can happen is that someone will decline your offer.

If you are trying to complete a reservation using the Home Resort Reservation Priority you will need have points transferred from a Member who owns at that resort. If you wait until 7 months, points from any resort may be used.

Even if you can only find someone willing to transfer more points than you need right now, keep in mind that you can bank transferred points and can still get use from them in your next Use Year.

Good luck! :)

Thank you! I think this is what was nagging in the back of my mind. However, I do have just one UY for my sanity's sake. Would have been a great option, though.

Well I'll think about whether I want to do the work to seek out a transfer and spend the money or whether I'll just tweak our vacation plans. I have a couple of months before the 7 month mark. Appreciate all the advice!
