Our school just told us that we are not having a regular "halloween" party, but rather a "harvest" party and the kids should dress up as animals. UGGHHHH!
DS said that he would like to be a wolf, but there really isn't anything that I have found on the web and in books, any ideas? Not like the "big bad wolf", but just a regular wolf. HELP! He has a backup animal in case I can't find anything, but I would love to do this for him.

How about using a baseball cap to start and maybe use fake fur fabric and batting to build a wolf head on it? Maybe get grey or brown sweat pants and sweat shirt and use fabric markers to make multicolored fur or...just make some fur cuffs on the shirt and collar like the wolf is wearing the sweats? Make a fur tail and sew it in place and maybe some face makeup.

Do you have a zoo nearby - or maybe you can go to a zoo giftshop on-line? I bought animal masks for my boys at a zoo one year and they wore appropriate colored sweats with tails I made attached. One was a grety wolf.

My son was a werewolf for Halloween on eyear and this is what I did.

I took an old pair of pants and an old turtleneck, cut rips into them, sewed fur pieces on the inside with the fur coming out, like it was bursting through. Then we had an actual werewolf mask.

You could use the same principle but sew the fur on the outside of the old clothes and cover the entire thing.Instead of using the turtleneck, use a hooded sweatshirt so you can cover the hood with fur and just use Halloween type makeup to color his face gray(or brown depending on your wolfs color :D )and draw on whiskers etc....If you have an old "fun-noodle" or something you could cut a peice to size(it's foam so you can actually shape it a little),cover that with fur and sew it on the back for a tail.

You can find fake fur at any fabric store,BTW.

Good luck!

I have a friend who always uses sweatpants & hooded zippered sweatshirts to make costumes out of. I've seen a gorgeous dalmation and a really cool shark done that way. The hood works as the head......you can attach ears to it or use it as a mouth and put teeth all around the face opening.

Thanks for the help and input! I appreciate it, and I know that I will be able to make a great costume!
