Creative Memories vs Scrapping Stores

LOL! Yes! I'm scrapping backwards and seems like all we did in 1998 was weddings and Disney - and one wedding was at WDW!! And then 1997 - more Disney! I can't wait to do something else. No offense to the mouse.... obviously we love him very much.

I'm glad there are different types of albums - everyone has different needs and different styles. And your albums should express who you are.

Well, back to 1997 and our July trip to WDW I go!

I also use both. I use CM albums, pages and page protectors. I also use CM tape runner because I like it, and I love the cutting system. paper, stickers, eyelets, whatever else comes from wherever I find it. I do prefer more simple, quick to do pages, just suits me better personally. I usually do a 2-pg LO in an hour or so, but I have a friend who will spend an entire 6-hour workshop on ONE LO! Just personal differences!

Look around, find what you like, and go with that!

Well, it looks like we're on the same page about one thing....we like to use a combination of CM as well as LSS items. I'm the same way. I LOVE CM tools.....have circle cutters, corner rounder, cutting tools and have ordered the oval cutters. However, I like post bound albums for the simple reason I like loading from the top and being able to change things around as needed. I also like CM stickers but I like others too. My CMC has a great presentation on the power sorting and organization kits available w/CM. I've ordered several things from her lately on that. I love JoAnne's and Michael's for decorative paper, stickers and other items.

If you're new to scrapping and want fun classes w/great ideas, check out my thread on the scrap book cruise I have organized for 4/21/05. It's a great way to join in and learn new ideas from other scrappers.

Hope to hear from you soon!

I started scrapbooking in 1996. I didn't even know CM existed until 1998 when I got online. I didn't actually buy my first CM product until 2000. My local consultant wouldn't allow me to see a catalog unless I agreed to book a show. I had to buy my first catalog from an eBay seller. Sigh.

I don't use CM albums. I can't scrap in order. I prefer to use Close To My Heart post bound albums. I also use 3 ring binder type albums I've purchased from either Keeping Memories Alive or from Michaels. I can't scrap in order to save my life.

I think CM products are really nice, but I shop much more at regular scrapbook stores. Mostly I buy online. With the nearest scrapbook store a 2 hour total drive time from my house, it's easier to find exactly what I want online instead of driving all that way and hoping the item I want is there (and it usually isn't).

I like CM products though.

I agree 100% with you. IMHO, those are the BEST post bound albums out there!! I only have 6, though... LOL!! Cuz they're so darn expensive, but you get what you pay for, right? ;)

Oh, I also don't scrap in order either and if someone held a gun to my head and told me to scrap in order... they'd end up having to shoot me. I don't work well under that type of pressure!! :p

ToDisney--------Where do you find Close to My Heart albums? I
don't remember seeing them at Michael's or JoAnne's but they may very well be there. I usually get Pioneer albums. I've learned w/them that the more you add, the more likely it is to fall apart. I wait until I'm completely done and then put all my pages together.

Are you KIDDING me? What the heck kind of business is she running if she won't let you see a catalog unless you promise to order! Gimme a break.

I agree 100% Alice!! I can't imagine telling one of my clients that I won't give them a cruise brochure until I have a firm booking from them! What kind of business ethics is that?! I think I'd find another CMC!

CTMH is a home party/catalog company dealing mainly in stamps... so kinda like CM. The CTMH are expensive, but I've gotten those things pretty big... almost needed a fork lift to lift them ;) before I started moving them to other albums... LOL!!

ummmmmmmmmmmm...........very interesting!? ;)
Never heard of them......will have to find them on a website and check 'em out.
Thanks

I am a non-CM user. I don't use a thing from CM anymore. I prefer the top-load albums because you don't have to work chronologically. I can work on my Epcot pictures when I really went to DW 3 days before. You can't really do that with CM albums.
I prefer Hermafix / Tombow adhesives to CM ones. MUCH easier to use.
I just think you can be more adventurous and creative with the LSS stuff.

Just wanted to post my two cents:

As far as CM goes, I use their cutting system, which is absolutely wonderful, and also the title template (for lining up titles and stickers) and various other things. I don't particularly care for the CM books (like to use my own paper and such - do not want to be limited to the white, natural or black pages).

IMHO, CM products are very high end and known for the longevity of use (acid-free, archival quality, etc.). Because of the high quality, the items seem to be more expensive that local stores, especially because local stores have sales and coupons.

I use a mix of eveything when I scrapbook. I've recently discovered Scrapbooking Warehouse and have been purchasing albums and supplies from there.

I do prefer my LSS. There is just something about walking down all the aisles of product!!!
