Creative Disney DISboard Members - any ideas for my babies helmet??

Hi. My 7 month old son has to wear a helmet for 3-4 months to help round out his skull. We are going to Disney World the first week in May. I'd like to decorate his helmet w/ a Disney theme - maybe Mickey Mouse stickers, paint and/or stencils. The helmet outer shell is stark white but can be painted or decorated without harming it. My sister-in-law is an artist and may be able to help me, if I need it. I'd have to mail the helmet to her, though as she lives 6 hours away. Any ideas... suggestions...I need help from any creative Disney Disboard members !!! Thanks..

My idea is go to ac moore and get the disney rub on transfers and do a variety of pooh and mickey or what ever you like ....I think when i got mine they were 299 a piece. They had mickey, minnie ,tinkerbell, pooh, eeyore, tigger, piglet.. I dont remeber any others good luck

What about leaving it blank white and having all of the characters sign it when you get there??? You could get those new pastel colored Sharpies so it would look very pretty.

Will the characters sign items like this??? Does anyone know?

If you don't think they will sign them, I think decorating with stickers and definitely add your son's name on it.

Have fun on your trip!! :flower:

I like the rub on idea and think it's great that you're wanting to do this. It will be a huge hit I'm sure with all the characters and CMs! Take a picture and share with us when you finish! Have fun on your trip!

You can make the helmet look like a Mickey face by painting the outline a Mickey's head around the part of the helmet that frames your sons face.

Paint it bright green with a big eyeball on the top or back of it like Mike Wazowski (sp?)!!

I like the idea of having characters sign it too!

I apologize for asking the really stupid question - sometimes I just miss stuff...

If you would need to mail it to your sister, and she would do her thing with the helmet, then she would need to send it back to you I am assuming in the mail. You didn't mention how many days you would be at WDW - but if he could be without a helmet while you were mailing it back and forth - why not keep the helmet off at WDW. The temperatures in May can start to heat up, and a helmet sounds very uncomfortable if it is really hot.

Good luck!

Some great ideas!!! I really like the Mickey Mouse idea. ::MickeyMo I just want to be careful and not use too much of a dark color as that will absorb too much heat. The Dr. said best results are when the helmet is worn 23 hours a day but if it is too hot in Florida - she said to take it off. We don't even have the helmet yet - not for two more weeks and when we get it, the baby should only wear it for an hour or two a day at first to get used to it. I could overnight mail it to my sister-in-law but really do not think I want to inconvience her so I will come up with something myself. I'm just trying to make this fun as I really hate the idea of him wearing a helmet for 3-4 months. Thanks for all the suggestions. :)

I would do the rub ons so it wouldnt look bare ..(like i said to do before] then id get the signitures of the rub ons ...

I just posted some info for you regarding decorating the helmet at your original post on the families board. I understand how you feel about the helmet. My daughter had to wear one too. I absolutely dreaded the moment we had to put it on her, but you will get used to it, I promise! It is kind of a pain in the behind and a lot of work, but the results will be worth it. You will also be amazed at how many people will come up to you sharing a similar experience, or who are just sympathetic. My daughter got more positive attention than ever wearing the helmet, especially with cute decorations!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding the helmet or are just looking for some moral support.
