I have 2 picky eaters and I usually stay in a one bedroom(BWV). We are headed down for thanksgiving and I am going to take my sisters studio and give her my one bedrom because my husband isn't coming so she could use the extra room(she is 4 and we are 3). BUT I usually cook pasta, chicken nuggets, fries etc for my 3 and 5year old. They seem to eat better in the room than at the restaurants. How can I pull this off in a studio? Microwave? A toaster oven would be great (for chicken and fries)but I know they don't have one. Bring a hot plate for pasta? Can I cook pasta in the microwave. It has to be tri colored pasta or they won't eat it. Lol it's awful but I just want them to eat while we are on vacation. Help!

My biggest problem when trying to cook noodles in the microwave is that the water overflows the container very easily. Two options - try it at home to see what works for you or precook it, stick the noodles in a ziplock bag, and then heat up the sauce in the microwave and toss the noodles in. My sister does the latter on a regular basis at her house.

You can definitely heat up nuggets and fries in the microwave, they just may not get as crispy as you'd like. But they're already cooked, so other than drying out the outside for the crispness factor, all you're doing in the oven is heating them through. I've discovered that I can keep *some* of the crispness if I wrinkle up a paper towel and put the food on top of that -- it absorbs some of the moisture coming off the food as it heats up and keeps the food from just sitting in it while in the machine.

I was going to suggest a two bedroom lockoff, but I imagine you've already got the reservations. Maybe you could request adjoining rooms? Then you could treat it as a two-bedroom even though it's technically two separate reservations. (I doubt it would happen, but it shouldn't hurt to try.) Even if you can't get them together, can you use your sister's kitchen to cook the pasta ahead of time? And maybe heat up the nuggets and fries in her kitchen then "take out" to your room?
