Here's the deal: My first nephew is graduating from high school in June, and I am in the midst of creating a video "scrapbook" with a Microsoft video creator of some kind (I'm blanking on the name)-you know, putting all his "life" photos (newborn, toddler, school, sports, WDW, holiday pics) to music. I'm pretty new to all this "video creating", to be honest, so would appreciate help of any kind. I know that there are plenty of people on the DIS that have made videos of their WDW trips, and I personally have been blown away by many of them...you all were actually my inspirations when I thought of doing this for my nephew.

My biggest obstacle at this point is the music. Now I have plenty of "touching" Disney music to use...and already have a tear-jerker picked out to play during all our WDW photos. However, WDW is just a "small" part of HIS life, and I am concerned about the whole project appearing to be "slanted" toward Disney in any way as it will be playing to a large audience. I'd especially like some funny/silly/upbeat music that would fit with showing basic "a-normal-kid-growing-up" photo collage. I'm also looking for some beach/tropical music to use when I show our annual beach vacation pics. I am pretty stumped as to where to find the "right" music and especially don't want to have to go out and buy tons of CDs just to find what I'm looking for-anyone know of sites with free music to listen to? I am looking for music both with and without lyrics.

Please help!! I want this to be special for my beloved nephew!

Thank you! IVY :flower1:

I love Rascal Flatt's new song "My Wish." It would really be good for something like this. The lyrics are great. In fact, I'm going to be making some videos for my kids with their pictures put to this music.

A good Disney song would be "Remember When" by Leann Rymes (sp?) . It's on the Disney 50th cd. The lyrics are very good for reflecting back on childhood.

Just off the top of myhead when I think beach music, I think of the Beach Boys, especially the Kokomo song! I will keep thinking!

i would love to do this for my 20th anniversary for my hubby. can someone tell me how to get started and what i need. in laymens terms please. is there a program to buy? download? please,,,,any help would be highly appreciated.
thanks

They have used the song "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart in several of the moving up ceremonies here in my district. It is sure to bring on a few tears.

When my daughter did the end of year slide show for her high school band banquet last year she used "I Wanna be Sedated" and "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones for the "silly kid-stuff" photos and "Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)" by Green Day for the "Seniors; Then and Now" section. Another up-beat song she used was "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 but I can't remember what photos she paired that with. She also threw in some swing/jazz pieces here and there. It was a really good show and the music went perfectly.

I love doing these as well. Is there a place that these are that we can see/watch?

My software is on my computer and is Windows Movie Maker.

Don't go out and buy CD's - I use i-Tunes (there are other sites like it) to listen to a sample before buying, and then purchase the song (or songs) that you like to download on your computer. Then you should be able to plug it in to the program that you decide to use.

I'm working on a DVD for my dd's softball team and she wants me to use one of the songs from High School Musical - Together.

Good luck! It sounds like an awesome project. It's funny, 14 years ago we paid someone to put together something like this for our wedding reception - now we are making them ourselves!

I would love to do something like this also. I have Windows ME and tried to download a program but found out it was just for XP. I wanted to make a slideshow and music to it. I will have to see if I have Windows Movie Maker but I doubt I am that lucky. It sure is amzing we can do these things ourselves now. Some of those songs you all suggested sound great too.

Good luck with your IvyandLace.

not sure if this song is too girly...but it is by Vitamine C, the Graduation song

Window Movie Maker is fun and easy! I've made two videos of our girls so far, blending both pictures and videos. I found their site www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/moviemaker is user friendly. I'm not a Microsoft employee or getting reimburshed by them for saying this (I wish!), but I just wanted to let everyone know that it is quite simple to use! :wave2:

As for the music, I'd ask him what his favorite tune is. I have very specific songs that relate to specific parts of my life and it'd be nice to know that when he hears that song, his favorite at the time, that he remembers your video!

And the BESTEST beach song ever, "Wipeout."

Absolutely this song, especially the one with people speaking during the music. LOVE Time of your life (good riddance) and also Friends by Michael W. Smith. It's pretty sappy.
