I am interested in creating a trip report, how do I make links to take you to different parts of the trip report? Or do I just continue to make new posts on my thread?

You can do it either or both ways. To link to any other location either a post furthur down in your own thread or another thread, first you need the URL of that location. For a post, click the little # in the top right corner of that post. For instance, your post above is http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50470690&postcount=1

If you want a thread, just copy the address in your address bar of your browser.

To post the link use the "Insert Link" button and paste the URL address in the box that asks for it and you will get this

http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50470690&postcount=1

This is the code (with an extra space in it so you can see it at the end)

http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50470690&postcount=1[/URL ]

If you want it to look more friendly, just change the link part that shows like this:

[URL="http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50470690&postcount=1"]This is the first post in this thread

!~!~!~!Advanced!~!~!~!

If you want to get cool with it :)....

Link to your post inline rather than just to a post. It takes a little effort but rocks!

Go to that same # in the top right of your post you want to link to and right click it and choose "properties". Copy that Address (URL) code and paste it in your post/reply. Change the code like this:

Show post only:
http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50473516&postcount=2

Show inline as part of its thread:
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?p=50473516#post50473516

Click on them to see the difference :)

It links to the page and moves your browser down to that exact post but still keeps you in the full thread so you can continue on and see replies. You can also use the above code to show a friendly link and combine it with this method to make the best of both worlds:

This is the second post on this page

Code:

This is the second post on this page[/URL ]

Thank You! :thumbsup2 I think I am going to go with the 1st option! I'll get creative later when I post more!
