A little while ago there was a thread regarding a store in the Magic Kingdom where you can create a wrist watch.

Has anyone ever done this and could you post your experiences. I am a Minnie Mouse fan and if possible was looking to get a Minnie watch.

Thanx.

It is at Uptown Jewlers at WDW (on the right side of Main Street heading toward the castle. I am a huge fan of Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnett from "Make Mine Music" There is very little out there with them on it so I got the watch made there. It came out really nice. They are rather pricey, but for a custom piece it is well worth it (especially in my case where their is no merchandise sold like that).

Thanx for the reply. Is there anything in particular I should ask for? Not wanting to put you on the spot but I'sm sure the last post I read was quoting a price of about $350.00 is that round about what you paid?

Thanx again.

$350 Ouch... No, I paid I think $150 and mine was a "custom". They have the book there with the pictures of things they can put on a watch, but I asked for mine specific since there is not merchandise with Johnny and Alice and they made it no problem. No specifics I can think of to ask, the watches are nice, you just have to find what you are looking for :)

I never hears about the watches. I am going to have to check them out. I would love a custom made disney watch.

Thanks for the info

Thanx for the info. I was budgeting to pay $350, so if I can get the watch for $150 that will be even better.

I just luv your username ~ Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom is one of my favourite places in MK.

Thanx again.

Thanks :) I used to work on the Riverboat, thus the name :)

Gosh I never thought of that. What a lucky person.

My sister would love a custom watch of Tinkerbelle. Is $150 about an average for this? or can it sometimes be more?

Being a Disney watch nut I have had a few made in past trips. They do range in price depending on what you want. There are basically 2 types of artwork Line drawing and color. The line drawings are just what is says a small sketch and the full color version is higher priced.
In the past there were several watch movements available that would affect the price along with a larger artwork that was matted with the watch mounted.

In WDW the book that you choose from is very thick and fun to browse through. In my case I don’t collect characters just attractions and anniversary types POC and HM are my specialties which makes the selections slim.

The last thing to consider is watch wear. Many collect Disney watches and keep them all dark and hidden in some cabinet never to see the light because some day it might be worth a few bucks.
I wear mine but not in the convention way. My 10 POC watches are linked together as a hatband for my WDW hat. If you plan on buying a custom watch my recommendation is to wear it. If you want to keep it pristine for display but occasionally wear it out buy another watchband replace the original immediately. Band wear is the easiest way to tell if a watch is truly NIB. Five minutes with a buffer and a crystal polish no one will be able to tell it has ever been worn.

Just a question - Recently bought a numbered limited edition watch in original box (never wore) with a young Walt Disney on the face and signed on the crystal. Is something like this valuable? Where can I find information on it ? Does Disney keep track of numbered limited editions like this ? Thanks for any help

To give you an idea on the custom prices, I bought a full-color custom Eeyore watch 4 years ago -- it was $350 at World of Disney. I was able to get a 10% discount with my Disney Club card, which took a little bit of sting out of it. ;)

If the shop is still there, I believe you can have the watches made at MGM studios as well.

Have fun!

Okay let me get this right.

Can you:

Pick a style of watch you like ?.....................................
Choose a strap ?..........................................................
Pick the design / image you want on the dial ?............
Say whether you want color or black/ white ?

and much do you reckon this costs/

I believe the type of image you choose limits the style/strap you can choose. There will be a book of images to choose from for your watch. I don't know if every image has the option of b/w or color. And my full-color watch (the custom artwork that was reduced for the watch was included) was $350 4 years ago.
