Crazy to Consider 3-resort stay?

I'm doing that next week. 1 night at BLT as I added that night later on, 5 nights at WL and 4 nights at BWV. The most I've done is 4 but it doesn't bother me as I usually just take out the clothes I'll need the next day the night before. We're renting a car though. Don't do buses unless I absolutely have to.

8-night stay
Do 1 night at Pop, 4 at Boardwalk, 3 at Animal Kingdom
Do 1 at Pop, 6 at Boardwalk and 1back at Pop
Do all 8 at Animal Kingdom
Do all 8 at Pop
Some other combo?

We are super-cheap so I'm either doing Value or DVC and I'm not really interested in the other inexpensive DVC resorts (Saratoga Springs, OKW).

This will be the first visit for our kids, second for my husband and third for me. Last time we stayed at.Animal Kingdom Lodge for a family reunion, first.time I went was as a kid and we stayed off site.

I split stay often for $ reasons usually, and I really don't enjoy it, all the wasted time packing/unpacking etc. especially with kids. I have done 2, 3 and 4 different hotels.

My first choice would be all 8 at AK. Since you have stayed there you know how special it is, and I think it's a great resort for kids. They will be wowed. If you have only stayed there and not at a value .... you might be very disappointed. While I still stay at the values with kids, DH refuses to go back to them.

Much as I love Boardwalk, I would not hesitate to stay 8 nights at AKLV, but I would request Jambo House. I would not try to stay at 3 for 8 nights. Good luck with your planning!

If you could stay here, I woudl choose it and stay put. AKL was my DGD first visit resort and out was amazing.

I would never spend so much time moving from place to place on a diseny trip, especially on a first trip for kids. I know you are used to moving around, but IMO, Disney is busy enough without adding the additional stress of packing and moving.

We've done it, and I wouldn't recommend it. We stayed one night at AKL, then 3 nights at VWL, then 3 nights at BCV. It was a lot of packing and unpacking. It was more of bucket list thing for us, knocking off AKL on our stay list, but we didn't really get to enjoy the resort.

That's one thing that I think about. For us, these resorts are not cheap, so when we choose one we use it. It is way more than a room for my family, so I refuse to pay all that money and not have time to relax, explore the resort, and enjoy the amenities.

I actually did a 3 split stay twice (1-4-2 all onsite and 1-3-2 with the first night off site). It was fine the key is just to be organized and honestly don't worry too much about wrinkled clothing LOL, BUT for both of those stays I had a car and was moving resorts as a single adult (both stays had family or friends along on part of the trip but I was usually solo before and after). It was the car that made it easy as I could just move at my own timeline and I didn't have to worry about where the luggage was.

I also just got back from Europe (UK/France) and did 3 hotels (and one plane) over 9 nights (1-5-2-1). Again if you're organized I didn't find it hard to pack/unpack and change often.

My upcoming stay will be the first split stay I have where I have to use Disney luggage transfer and I'm only doing 2 resorts (3-1). I'm more worried about that one then I ever was with the 3 resort trips.

Seriously considering an early morning uber.

I say go for the split, I did it a couple of times & it was fabulous. I don't unpack into drawers because I think it's icky so I'm always in & out of the suitcases anyway.

Three days Polynesian one day Portofino Universal and three days animal kingdom savannah. Our last trip in Feb was a few days at the DVC Treehouse, the cruise then 3 days at Animal Kingdom DVC.
I love getting to see multiple resorts & I love that they will magically move our stuff while we are out. For me I'm a fan and I don't see any downsides :)

Advice is just try to get to your room around dinner time, stop in the lobby to check in and aske them to send up your things, take a few minutes to freshen up then continue with your dinner plans from the new spot. If it's DVC throw a little laundry in and carry on your way. The best!

I would do all at AKL or POP. I might do 2, I wouldn't do 3. I might do POP on arrival day, then transfer to AKL for the rest, but I don't like that last day at POP you have listed.

We are looking to go for an 8-night stay from Saturday night to the following Sunday (trying to minimize missed school time). I was hoping to do a split stay through DVC rental -- 4 nights at Boardwalk, 4 nights at Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately only 3 of the nights I want are available at Boardwalk, though there is availability for three days after:
Do 1 night at Pop, 4 at Boardwalk, 3 at Animal Kingdom
Do 1 at Pop, 6 at Boardwalk and 1back at Pop
Do all 8 at Animal Kingdom
Do all 8 at Pop

I've done many split stays but I don't recommend multiple changes in your situation.
When are you actually planning to go?

I'd probably do Boardwalk and AKL and try to get the first night at BW as a waitlist if the owner will do that for you. I've squished 4 into a POP room for just one night and it's just too tiny a room. I'd prefer to stay offsite rather than be in a room with 4 at POP.

I loved switching resorts midvacation. We went from BCV to AKV. My husband, however, says we are never ever doing that again. So, there you go. To each their own, but I wouldn't want to pack and unpack 5 times for one vacation.

You sort of have to be a certain kind of crazy to like split stays.

It's very helpful to have a system that enables you to live out of your suitcases with minimal unpacking and packing.

It's also helpful to be familiar with how bell services works in transfering your bags between resorts (alternatively, you can cab/Uber or drive your bags, but we prefer not to do this due to the time component). Along those lines, we generally treat resort transfer days just like any other day (i.e., go to a park, etc.).

With those two caveats, we actually find split stays to be a net convenience at WDW because everything is so spread apart. Specifically, by planning your resort reservations to coincide with your park days (and ADRs), you can minimize a lot of travel time (especially if you're relying mainly on Disney transportation).

In fact, we like split stays so much that we've done a 5 resort split stay (over 2 weeks) and actually have a 7 resort split stay planned for next spring (also over 2 weeks).

So I don't think a 3 resort split stay is crazy, provided you're the kind of crazy that likes split stays in the first place (which we are).

I would do all right at animal kingdom or pop i do not like moving resort too much of a hassle for us

I like it!

Just curious what your method is for living out of the suitcase? Every morning I pull out a set of jammies for everyone and clothes for the next day put them on top of the suitcase. A bag for dirty clothes in a corner and eventually roll the dirty stuff into one suitcase and compress all the clean stuff into another. On days I wash I remove the bags of dirty stuff then I slide the clean stuff in the now empty case.

We pretty much do it the same way (we have two laundry bags for colored clothes and one for white clothes).
