Boy, I need advice on this one...
I signed up my family for a Boy Scout food bank collection in February. At the time they were asking for 25 volunteers.
A couple of weeks later I told a friend about the opportunity and checked to see if there were any spots left for her family. When I went back on the GAD site I was amazed to see that the Boy Scouts were now asking for close to 10,000 volunteers!
I emailed them to let them know of the mistake. I didn't receive a reply, so I have emailed and called several times. No one has responded. I watch the ticker daily and I guess well over 500 people have now signed up.
My husband thinks the Boy Scouts have opened this up to give their members an opportunity to earn a tickets from their yearly food drive. But how can the Boy Scouts know how many non-scout families have signed up?
I want to just cancel and look for another opportunity, but my husband think GAD might reach capacity soon. There isn't another opportunity listed that my whole family can pariticipate in now. We would have to travel over 3+ hours to Portland.
I would hate to show up just to be turned away. It is a month away and the clock is ticking on GAD vouchers.
What do I do? Thanks for letting me vent. lol
