Crazy prices for beach club

2 small beach club contracts 50 and 70 came on market yesterday at 2pm for $118 with August use year. I was alerted instantly with a resale app. In the 10 mins it took me to pull the car over and fill out the form for a full price offer, they were both gone. Luckily, the same seller had another 50 point contract not advertised that I was able to snag. Crazy to be paying $118 a point?!

Not crazy. I got the same notice and missed out. Kind of glad I did as I did not consult with the wife first. We want a BCV contract but apparently are waiting until next spring to offer...haha

BCV is the second most popular resort behind VGF right now...so I am not at all surprised about the cost.

It's still better than direct. But yea. Resales are getting out of hand. I paid more than I wanted after missing out on several. (Akv) I have my eye out for a resale price dip to get another small contract but I am not sure that's ever going to happen with direct prices as high as they are...

I agree it is still better than direct prices and the terribly long wait list. We plan to have this until the end of contract, I am sure it will pay for itself. Thanks for making me feel better....

I think VGF resale prices are high too. But when contracts I wanted with the use year I wanted came available, I paid them...

I had to convince DW to pull the trigger on our $84/point 252 point BCV contract last year.

Now? We are extremely happy. We signed that contract 13 months ago and then it was a very good but not great contract. (We only paid $2/point less than asking).

Not bragging, or rather, not JUST bragging, but pointing out how far prices have gone up in just a year.

We grabbed a 100 point BCV contract in June for $105/pt. Now waiting to clear estoppel and close. Watched and called for months before snagging this contract. I too was pulling off the road calling and twice lost because the agent called the wrong number, but still happy!

All resales are slowly creeping up. Any contracts 100 points and less will command even higher prices. It's not going to get any better.

The pricing is definitely making me wonder whether I shouldn't just go direct (if possible) for the next (September UY 125pt BLT) contract I've been waiting for. May guarantee me the number of points I want and cut out all of this waiting. When the spread is only $30-40 dollars per point and the contract is relatively small, maybe it makes sense?

What irks me is the high prices on contracts which are stripped. I just saw BLT listings with October UY and zero 2015 points asking $140/point? Paying that only to wait 14 months for any points to be deposited into your account...makes direct look much more appealing if this is the direction in which things are going.

Yes, I wouldn't pay some of the current resale prices for a stripped contract. I've noticed BLT creeping up as of late as well. I went a few months not even seeing a contract in my Use Year, then when they started surfacing the prices were $130-$145. Now, that's asking price and everything is negotiable. While previous contracts I purchased were $110-$115 I paid asking price or close to it. At these asking prices I'm not willing to offer that close. I hopefully just locked in a 100 point add-on to BLT and will share details once it goes to ROFR. Until then I'm never confident it's a done deal.

With DVC's direct pricing escalating so quickly and steeply, resale prices are following.

I bought a couple BLT contracts in April and was a little frustrated I paid as much as I did -compared to contracts 6 months prior. $100 for a 100 and 160 pt contract, Sept UY only 15 points coming due 2015 between the 2.

Seeing the current listing prices makes me feel better about the price I paid.

Well it can't go up TOO much higher, or the prices will exceed direct, so I think we are done with the huge price increases until direct prices increase again.

There isn't anything but ROFR standing between now and prices exceeding direct - and Disney needs to make a profit - buying the contract and reselling it adds expense. If the demand is there, the supply isn't available through Disney - so its up to Disney to start exercising ROFR or that is exactly what will happen.

VGC resale prices sometimes exceed direct purchase. Since the VGC points are not readily available for direct purchase members grab what they can via high priced resale. At WDW, I would think a member would just buy at another resort and not bother with buying such an overpriced resort.

We paid a little higher on the VWL but I really wanted the points for our next trip and the seller paid 2015 MFs for all the 2015 points so that made it a good deal for us. We are also unsure of what will happen with priced when the new DVC at VWL comes out will there be a lot of contracts out or will they be even more scare and higher priced? We took the gamble since we love VWL and it is our "home". That being said BCV was out second choice but the cost difference was too high. I am still hoping to get in there in June.

WE area waiting on a ROFR (7/26) on a SSR October contract for 75 points @ $85 p.p. Loaded with 2013,2014 pts.. Hoping Disney doesn't grab it !

Just saw new VGF resales put up today at $155 and $157 per point. Less than $10 from the direct purchase price.
Wow (of course that's negotiable).

I'd likely just go on the direct waitlist at that price. The time on the waitlist is likely similar to the time to go through the resale process.

The wait list for VGF (and BCV and VGC) through DVC are closed right now which may be driving up the price of those contracts.

I currently own at VGF and AKV, and have always wanted BCV. I tried very hard to get my guide to put me on the beach club waitlist. He said it wasn't possible which is why I reluctantly offered full price for that small contract which fit my use year. And I almost missed it. I can see the prices climbing even higher in the near term at BCV and VGF until disney can do something about the demand.

How do you get alerts when contracts come up? Where and how do you sign up?
