As mentioned before, use Google flights! If you have different airports you are thinking of flying out of, I will usually set price alerts for each iteration.
I just looked up your dates: BOS-MCO is $256 RT on Delta or $190 RT flying Delta down to MCO and flying Spirit back. I'm not sure what price point is "crazy" because I live on the west coast so I'm not sure what the normal airfare price is.
For us, we paid $611 total in December for 2 people to fly SEA-MCO. I just looked at our dates again and it's $600 PER PERSON now. I usually try to book ASAP though because flight prices usually go up not down in my experience.
