Crap...my 180 day out ADR window is on Christmas Eve.

My fiance and I are planning on arriving at WDW on June 21st, 2008 for our disneymoon and we really want to eat at Le Cellier and I just finished reading how important it is to book it on the 180 day mark. Problem is, our 180 day mark is Christmas Eve when Disney will be the last thing on my mind.

I have a couple of questions and hope you dis veterans can help me!

Does Disney take phone calls for ADRs on Christmas Eve? I'm assuming they do, and I'm sorry if that's a stupid question!

Can I make all of the ADRs for our vacation 180 days from the start of our trip, or do I have to call each day to make reservations for 180 days from each day of the trip?

And finally, is it worth it for me to go to Le Cellier? I live on the other side of the water from Canada and I'm unsure if this is something different than our familiar Canadian restaurants. Basically, I like to experience things on vacation that I cannot experience at home. (Let's put it this way-- I never even knew Canada HAD a restaurant until I came to the DIS because every time we passed Canada in Epcot, my dad would say, "We don't need to see this, we practically live there." lol!)

Yes, Disney Dining is open on Christmas Eve. For most dining reservations though you don't have to get overly excited about 180.

If you are staying at a Disney resort, you can make reservations for up to 10 days beyond checkin at the 180 day mark. So if you wait until Dec. 26 for instance, you can make one call and do all your dining reservations.

Many people love Le Cellier but we think there are many better options at WDW.

I do appreciate the information though. I'll go ahead and call after the holidays-- that's probably the perfect time. Since we're just traveling as a couple, our eating times are really flexible.

I'm sort of a worrier/ perfectionist so I get a little freaked out about not getting into restaurants, etc, and I think the boards might perpetuate that at times. I have such high hopes for the honeymoon and really want it to be perfect, so I'm trying to do everything I can and don't want to wait to make ADRs and have my plans thwarted!

And finally, is it worth it for me to go to Le Cellier? It depends what you're accustomed to. Canada's a pretty big country and I've never been there, so it's hard to say, but it really depends on your neighborhood more than your country.

For example, I live in NJ near NYC, so I know I can get great pizza at home, so I don't go out of my way for pizza or Italian food. However, the "American" cuisine at Liberty Tree Tavern lunch - butter griddled pound cake, Maryland crabcake with succotash, etc. is a little more unique for me, even though I am American. So, look at Le Cellier's menu and any pictures on threads and think about places by you. If you have lots of great steakhouses that you can go to anytime or places that have their items (Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup, pretzel bread, Filet Mignon, New York Strip Steak, Maple Creme Brulee, Prince Edward Island Chowder Style Mussels, etc. ) then skip it, but I really enjoyed it. In particular, the mussels were my favorite thing! The cream sauce was excellent.

I called at what I thought was 180 days and found that it was actually 177 days and Le Cellier was already booked up in the evenings, they only had lunch available. I am still a little confused but I was told I could have booked at 170 days and that is why it was already booked up.

At 180 days, people can make ADR's for up to 10 days, so, places can book fast. However, that is partially because they don't release all their tables at what is essentially 190 days out (I assume this is what you meant by 170, unless you booked your ADR's 3 days later than your 180 days) So, the good news ( If I understand your situation correctly) is that at your true 180 days, more tables will be released and you will have the opportunity to call for an ADR again. If not, lunch is excellent and filet is still an option.

I certainly hope you are lucky! I got Jiko and CRT by calling back at my true 180 days first thing in the am, so I wish the same for you!

The other thing you can do (applies to both posters wishing to make dining reservations, and anyone reading this) is call Disney now, tell them what day you want to dine, and ask the CM what day you can/need to call. Then, especially for Le Cellier and CRT, start calling at 6:58 EST

Disneymoon, what is the actual first day of your hotel reservation?

If it is 6/21/08 I would call the day before Christmas Eve. Sometimes you get a castmember that doesn't pay attention to the 180 day mark and they might be able to get your reservation for you. If not, I would call 7 am on Christmas eve morning. It only takes a few minutes to make the reservation and it would ensure you get the reservation you want for your honeymoon.

Lulu, I knew Le Cellier was extremely popular but had no idea that it had gotten into the realm of CRT! Yikes.

Disneymoon, maybe you better try on 12/24 for that reservation if you decide to go ahead with it.

I'm incredibly anal, so I would definitely being calling on Christmas Eve! I think having your window open on a holiday is a blessing-you won't forget the date for sure! My window opened on my late grandfather's birthday, so it was easy to remember. We are in a different time zone, so I was up at 5:45, and called at exactly 6 am. I got everything I wanted at the exact time I asked for for Thanksgiving week. You may get what you want on Dec 26, but you are taking a risk.

Now, I may have been VERY lucky, but I think it is quite possible to get into Le Cellier past the 180 mark. Maybe not 3 months before, but at 170 days, probably. I called at around 160 days, got in (for 2). Then I changed the date, trembling that it wouldn't be possible, again no problem. Finally I changed the time of the reservation, from 5 to 6:30 without a hitch. All that was done in the 160-140 days "timeframe".

As for it being worth it for YOU, I'd say look at the menu and see if it appeals to you, and if you'd like to go there. The filet and cheddar cheese soup might look very good, but it is not THAT spectacular. On the other hand, eating in Marrakesh is probably way more exotic (but I'm Canadian and have never eating cheddar soup...). What is more important for your vacation, the food, or the atmosphere? Choose accordingly.

As far as Le Cellier being 'worth it' since you live so close to Canada, let me put it to you this way: I -am- Canadian, and I -love- the restaurant.

And just because you're right across the water from Canada doesn't mean you have seen all we have to offer. As another poster said, Canada is a -huge- country. I have travelled throughout Canada, from East to West coast, and there are still things I haven't seen. Cultural, historical, and natural sights! And yes, many of them are hinted at in Epcot. You, and your family, should stop in some time!

I've been thinking about how much I really love Canada and all the beauty such a great country has to offer (I've actually considered moving there and becoming a citizen many times!) and I think we're going to try and make the ADRs Christmas Eve morning!! I'm really looking forward to it!
