Hi guys!!! I have been busy (figuring out my glitter signiture.... Sandy... Heidi is a leader and that is why we love her!!!) Too bad for the cold!! I was swimming yesterday :sunny: Hope all is well with everyone!

Marcie- I think flying will be good for you and your husband, a lot more relaxing than driving!!!! Glad things are starting to go your way.

My tips that I can think of for you right now is:
* Bring an alarm clock (so you can see the time at night if you need too, without turning on any lights in the cabin!!)
* Bring sandwich ziploc bags so that if you want to have a picnic in a port, you can order pb&j sandwiches and chips and you can put them in the ziploc bag to carry with you on to the port.
* There is an extra electrical plug behind the TV.
* Go to Pub Night if they have it.
* Over the door-shoe holder to store bathroom stuff (really helps me)
* Ask for extra hangers
* If you are bringing wine, ask room service to bring you a corkscrew (you get to keep it)
* Take out atleast one outfit you packed (I really need to take this advice, I ALWAYS over pack)
* HAVE FUN, forget everything and RELAX

Funky Monkeys: Any more tips for Macie?

I can not believe that in 40 days I will be on my vacation. The last month has passed so fast with the hurricane and I am sure the next couple of weeks will too, while trying to get our lives back to normal. I will be so glad when we have lights and cable interenet. I did find out yesterday that Target is open. I read that 2 people with cruises on Nov 5th got there cruise docs. I will be on the Wonder on Nov 23rd so I am guessing in a couple of weeks we will be getting ours. Anyway, I've had this vacation scheduled for a year and have done so much research but I was wondering for all of you who have gone before if you could give me one tip of something to bring/do while I am there. Now that I have so much on my mind getting our lives back together I'm scared I'm going to forget something. I think I'm going buy a new suitcase and I don't even think I have a beach bag. I think I may need one. I did buy one of those disney direct coolers a while back that I'm thinking of bringing. Anyway, if anyone is bored and wants to post some tips I will be grateful. Thank you. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I used my disney direct cooler to take water and a bottle of wine Marcie. On the way home I used it for souvies and the such. I only took a small beach bag on our September cruise. Figrues with just the two of us we did not need a large one. I did not want to use my Castaway Club memeber bag.

I agree ziplocks are a must. Take some pernament markers of various colors. Make sure you have a good writing pen and I always take post it notes with me so we can leave notes on the mirror in one of the bathrooms. This is an idea we started in 2004. Jeff and I figured we would get up early and would not want to stay in the room until the kids were up. So we told them if they woke up and we were not there to check the mirrors in the bathrooms and they would have a note letting them know where we were. I also made some really nice tip envelopes for my WDW stay with each day of the week we would be staying written in a wild color and with disney stickers. This way I could tip the person who cleaned our room at POFQ. She was great too. I would lay the envelope out on my pillow every day prior to leaving. One of the best things I did was use suitcases that would fit into one another as well. This way we only had to make room for one suitcase to be stored. I take my own shampoo and conditioner and even my own soap. But it is provided for you. Remember sunscreen and a waterproof camera. Cameras on CC are about $20. I also take a small coupon organizer style folder with me. I use this for my receipts. I total them daily and this way I keep up with how much I have spent. Cashless you tend to forget how much you have spent. I also purchased a hard cased DCL logo lanyard to use. There are lots of suggestion but you really have to figure out what you think will work for you. When we go on a 3 day cruise I do not take the over the door shoe thing but on longer cruises I do. You will not need towels on the cruise but you would at the resorts.

Marcie for the day you will have extra now at disney here is a suggestion.
In June on our arrival day we unpacked. Ate lunch and headed to the pool. We had ressies for O'hana's for dinner. We got ready and headed to O'hana's and had a wonderful meal. We had a window table but decided to go to the beach area and watch the fireworks. It was really great.

Thank all of you for the tips. Do you think the Disney Direct Mickey cooler will work for a carry-on, on the plane? I was thinking of using that as my carry-on. We are also bringing our laptop and I am sure my DD will take a backpack. I'm only going to let her pack it half way though so she can put souveneirs in it. We already chose 'Ohanas as our last dinner before the cruise, but they just recently added Lilo & Stitch to the 'Ohana breakfast. I love Stitch but we didnt have any time to add it. So Last night I made a late breakfast ADR for this. That way we can actually sleep late one day. Then we will just spend the day at downtown disney or boardwalk. For dinner I am leaning towards Whispering Canyon or Beaches N Cream. I started making a packing list last night. I am surprising my DD and DH with baskets so now I am thinking of stuff to put in them that I don't have to pack since I'm flying. Hope everyone is having a good week. I still haven't gone back to work, my work still has not gotten the power back.
:grouphug: Talk to y'all soon.

Marcie, I have never been to Beaches n Cream but I LOVED Whispering Canyon. We were with a huge group which may have made it more fun but I always look back to it with a smile on my face......"Oh, Hickory". Oops, guess you had to be there. Our waitress was Hickory and she said if you need anything that she would be in the kitchen fetching our food and that all we had to do was yell out "oh Hickory". So.....we did it. Man, did she come out a yellling. Fun, fun. Throwing straws, broomstick horses.

Well, after discussing with DH & DD, Whispering Canyon won with the bottomless shakes. My DH is a big shake lover. So, I made us an ADR for dinner there on our free day. Now the plan is a late breakfast with Lilo & Stitch and an early dinner at Whispering Canyon and exploring in between. I am all set again. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Alright Marcie - the plans are final!!!!! Sounds like a great trip. What transportation are you using to get to the ship and back?

Gee Heidi, give her more things to think about why don't you? And by the way, don't get a big head from what Karen had to say about you......Heidi is a leader and that is why we love her!!!)

:goodvibes It's okay I have so much to think about I could use the help. We had already bought transportation from the resort to the port and port to resort, so I called my travel agent. They called Disney and changed the way back from port to airport at no additional charge!!! The way there they can't change because we are staying at a hotel out of Disney for the first 2 nights since we are going before our package starts. I read in the "Unofficial guide" that you can get a taxi from the airport to the hotels for about $36. So we just decided to worry about that once we get to the airport we won't be in much of a hurry. I am more worried about the day we go to our Resort. I've read tips on if you go early and tell them you have the land/sea package they will give you your tickets early. So I made breakfast ressies for the restaurant at the Resort. But, now that we aren't driving we will have to take a taxi with all our luggage to breakfast, and hope they will hold our luggage at the hotel and hope they will give us our tickets so we can go to the park. The breakfast is set for 8:30. I was thinking of moving it up to later but my DH wants me to keep it at that time. Do y'all think it will work? I was also thinking on our free day the day before we could go into the hotel and talk to them about it. Thanks for the input.

Marcie, don't sweat the luggage issue. The hotel has held our luggage before. I would almost guarantee that you will get your tickets early. Why not call the hotel directly and get your questions answered by the experts.

My boyfriend now deserves the stupidest son award of the year.

Background: My boyfriend's mom came out to stay with us for a little over a week, she is from Florida. I had never met her before and her plane ticket to go back to Florida was for this morning.

Explanation:
(conversation last night)
Me: What time are you leaving to take your mom to the airport
Him: 8:00am (her flight is at 10:15)
Me: Did you take rush hour into consideration?
Him: No, should I leave earlier
Me: Ya, probably around 7:30 since it takes about an hour to get to the airport and that gives you some time for rush hour and for her to get through the airport.
Him: Sounds like a good plan

Fast Forward to today he gives me a call and the conversation goes like this:
Me: Hi did you just get home from the airport?
Him: No I have been home for awhile. What is the voicemail code, I think my mom missed the plane.
Me: WHAT, how could she have missed the plane and why are you now just calling for the code?
Him: I got her to the airport 30 minutes before her flight, I thought her flight left at 11:15.

WTH was he thinking??!!! He calls her back and told me that everything is taken care of and that she is on standby for the next flight at 12:30. He then comments that she is not upset and that his sister is the only one really put out because she has to go pick her mom up. She was supose to get into Florida at 5:40pm, she is now getting in at midnight. I told him he has lost his gold star for the day. I am so irritated, how could he be so irresponsible?

Hahahaha!!! Heidi! You are SO funny and you make me laugh!!!! Jrsy Boy.... ya kinda put a smile on my face too!!!

Heidi just go ahead and realize all men are stupid and you will have it made. They do not change ever. :rotfl2:

Or at least they are not as smart as we are!!

You make me sound like some kind of monster. Comments like that don't bother me as I look up at my engineering degree from Columbia University hanging on my wall. I know how long it takes to get to the airport...

Selena, you don't have to worry about my wrath. After all, I still love my dog, even when he pees on the carpet... :dog2:
