The additional regulatory filings mean it's slightly more official, but there have been previous regulatory filings that also identified the construction at the Contemporary as a Disney Vacation Club.

At some point, Disney will issue a press release, and it really will be official.

Until then, Disney can focus attention on SSR and AKV, and the Disney Vacation Club tower at the Contemporary remains a rumor from an "official" Disney perspective.

From the monorail in early feb. The new construction:

I guess I've just been accused of being a naysayer.

My only disagreement is with the use of the word official.

Disney Vacation Development (DVD), the timeshare development organization within The Walt Disney Company, still refuses to make it official. They have not issued a press release. They have not disclosed the project in shareholder communications. They have not put up signs. They won't even answer reporter's questions. They have not issued communications to general cast members (although cast members all seem to agree it will be DVC). And DVC guides and DVC kiosk cast members can't talk about it because they haven't been authorized to (and because DVD has tried to keep them in the dark too).

I have been convinced that the new construction at the Contemporary Resort would be a DVC building since before demolition of the old north wing began. There's been evidence ranging from regulatory filings to architect's drawings.

In short, we all know it's coming, but it's still not official.

I was told by the CM that drove our Wishes cruise back in September 2007 that they were building that for DVC. We didn't think it was "insider information". :rotfl:

The tour around the seven seas lagoon was the most informative thing of our entire trip.

He showed us the precursor to Animal Kingdom in that island in the middle of the lagoon with his spot light. He showed us the remnants of the wave machine that used to make waves on the shore of the Poly until it eroded the shore too much and flooded some of the rooms. He told us how each room in the Contemporary was like a drawer that could slide out to be replaced if damaged, until they started sliding out and needed cemented in. It was so eerie to see the old River Country water park by spotlight while he told us how it used to be supplied with its water with water from the lagoon!

If this turns out to be something other than DVC it would be more shocking than if it "officially" is DVC!!!

Well when ever it finally becomes official, I can't wait to stay there. I'll probably need to add on more points first.

the photo from the monorail doesn't show where it sits in relation to the current Contemporary. Is the building before the hotel between the MK and the resort, or in the back near where the garden wing rooms are/were?

It's being built in the location of north garden wing which was recently demolished.

Is this thing going to be taller then the A-frame ?:confused3

I remember reading somewhere that the California Grill would be 1 level higher than the new Kingdom Tower building.

Ugly!?!

It's one of the finest looking Miami retirement condo towers I've ever seen!

I have absolutely no interest in the place.

We are already hyped up to stay at the Kingdom Tower as soon as rooms are available.

We like it, too - but WHO thought up that name??? I appreciate its proximity to the MK, but it sounds like a religious building. Something like "Jimmy Swaggert's new KINGDOM TOWER Church & Hotel". (And maybe casino.)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I was thinking along those lines but hadn't gotten to the Swaggert sponsorship and casino tie-in. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It really is a horrible name.

 Good call! I didn't make that connection, but the name is a little off. We have been calling them the Contemporary Villas all this time. So I'm not warmed up to the name "Kingdom Towers" just yet.
