I was just wondering how people liked the CR Garden Wings? Im sure the tower is much nicer, but Im not sure I want to spend the extra $$$! Right now, Im planning a June '06 trip, and Im down to either

1. Renting DVC Pts for a studio at BWV

2. Paying for a Garden Wing room at CR

3. Paying for a "Garden View" room at Poly

I would recommend either BoardWalk Villas or the Polynesian, both of which I consider far superior to Garden Wings at the Contemporary.

I personally really enjoy the Wings at Contemporary. I am sure I am in a minority. But it is so quiet and I enjoy being on the water side watching the boats. There are the little private beach areas we sit at. Cutting thru the courtyard it is an easy walk to the main blg and on the one side a very easy walk to MK.

I loved our stay in the North Wing. We could walk to MK in 10 minutes and the CR food court/arcade in about 2. The rooms are huge, too. We had a ground floor room with a patio. The standard wing rooms are the cheapest. Some of those have views of the fireworks, though you face a parking lot. I heard they are redoing the South Wing right now and the new rooms look awesome. I'm not sure when they will start rehab on the North Wing. There's a rumor floating around that they are going to turn it into a DVC.

We stayed in the wings last year (the week between Christmas and NY's) and really enjoyed it. We chose it because since it was going to be soooooo crowded we wanted a little convenience and it was. It was great walking to MK and being on the monorail to get to EPCOT and we really like the food and fun center.

But... we got an overflow rate from SOG of only about $160 a night. I don't think it would be worth paying much more then that. The room was clean but worn, but they are renovating and since you are not going until next year they might be finished with the wings. I would pay full price after the renovations are complete.

We have stayed at all levels at WDW....we found that we loved the Contemporary!!! We were in the North Wing, on the ground level, facing the playground area and lake. It was wonderful. The only bad thing about our 2-night stay there was that Hurricane Charley checked in the same day we did!!! The CM's there were terrific. We loved being able to walk to MK, take the monorail to TTC and grab the Epcot monorail. The restuaurants there were terrific. If I had to choose between the CR and the Polynesian...I would choose CR. We actually liked it better. Now, since we own at BWV, of course we love it there...but if CR turned DVC, I would be there in a heartbeat. BWV has the same issues that the Polynesian has...if it's raining, it's real hard to stay dry and still eat. Love BWV but I love the CR also.
I would decide based on what parks you'll spend the most time in...MK? Stick with the CR...Epcot or MGM? Go with BWV, it's a nice walk to both. Sure you can take the boat from the Polynesian...it's just not my favorite resort.

I agree! I prefer the wings to the tower precisely for this reason: the Bay Lake view. It's superb, more so if you get a first floor room with patio.
