CR to WL after eating at Cali Grill and MK fireworks ?

Staying at WL - 36th wedding anniversary dinner at the California Grill (yummy) and staying for the MK fireworks view from the California Grill walkway

Boat to CR from WL

Now how to get back from CR to WL
Does the boat from CR go to WL after the K fireworks ?
Do we have to walk to MK and take a bus back to WL ?
Would it be faster to take a taxi back to WL and approximate cost ?

Please help

Not sure if that boat will still be running at 8/9pm from CR to WL. If it is, that's easiest. If not, we'd take the simple walk from CR over to the bus depot. It'll be a bit crowded initially, as the park empties, but the bus back is pretty simple. Another option would be the boat from MK to WL.

We could hang around the CR at the shops for 15 minutes, then leisurely walk to MK,
see which has a less line, boat back to WL or bus.
Or if there is a taxi outside CR, we may just taxi back to WL

Your best bet is going to be a taxi (there should be some waiting at the Contemporary) or Uber/Lyft. Those two resorts are so close that walking to MK and hopping on the bus could take twice as long, especially if you have to wait for a bus to arrive.
If I remember correctly, the boat between the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge has not yet resumed service.

At 15 minutes after the fireworks end, hordes of people will still be leaving MK and getting in the bus and boat lines (and the monorail and ferry lines), and you'll have a very long wait. I'd plan on a taxi or rideshare back to WL. You and your spouse deserve it after your anniversary dinner! Congratulations!

I don't believe the CR-WL boat is running currently. It wasn't when we were there in November.

It will most likely be faster to get a cab/Lyft/Uber back to WL. Disney transportation after the fireworks is likely to be mobbed.

Just back from CR and confirming that the CR-WL-FW boat is still not back in operation.

Unfortunately that makes the post-fireworks return trip definitely more challenging. While I haven't done it, I suspect taxi/rideshare availability could be pretty strained for awhile after fireworks, just like Disney transportation. Unfortunately there aren't taxis just sitting around the resorts as often as they were pre-COVID. Rideshare is usually decent but always subject to demand at any given moment.

It's worth checking taxi/rideshare availability when there as your first option and if that doesn't look promising walk over to MK and take the WL bus (first preference) or boat - in my opinion.

Maybe stating the obvious but I'd pack some patience - post fireworks travel is always a bit of a wild card.
